Forbes said on Tuesday (US time) that the 5G, deep running, artificial intelligence, edge computing and serverless PaaS were added for the first time in 2017, according to the Gartner emerging technology hype cycle.

However, virtual personal assistants, personal analysts, and data brokers PaaS (dbrPaaS) are no longer included in the emerging technology hype-cycle. The 2017 Emerging Technology Hypecycle provides insight from more than 2000 technology research and consulting firms.

The hypecycle is one of the most likely technologies to provide a competitive advantage over the next five to ten years through a large base of these technologies.

The eight technologies added to this year's hypei-cycle included 5G, artificial intelligence, deep learning, deep reinforcement learning, digital twinning, edge computing, serverless PaaS and cognitive computing. Ten technologies not included in the 2017 hype-cycle include 802.11ax, emotional computing, context brokering, gesture control, data broker PaaS (dbrPaaS), microdata center, natural language question answering, personal analysis, Personal secretaries, and so on.

The three most dominant trends are AI Everywhere, a transparent flow experience, and a digital platform. Gartner believes that 5G, digital twin, edge computing, block chain, IoT platform, neural hardware, Quantum computing, serverless PaaS and software-defined security can be given as platforms.
