Dear Steemians! Back with a new article about perspective and perception! The reason I want to talk about this is that i think that having a well-developed perspective and perception can allow you to see the world from a different standpoint without judging to fast on what your eyes and mind are telling you.
I am going to cover the following topics:
- What is the difference between perception and perspective?
- Why should we concern our perception and perspective?
So now we have covered up everything it's about time we jump right into what you came for!
Different angle of view (perspective), different interpretation (perception).
Perspective:
perspective is the attitude with which you look at something and see the relative importance of it, it's a sense of proportion.
Perception:
A way of regarding, understanding, or interpreting something, it's a mental impression. It is the perception of our reality that governs the perspective towards our life. Perspectives come from our perceptions.
Have you ever started working at a different job where your manager told you to let him know everything you see that can be done better? He asks you this because he's focused on perceiving the same things and creates a certain perspective on it. He needs a fresh look from a new person who is able to perceive things differently so he can see things from a different angle/perspective than the manager. This way he can look for different solutions and look for new opportunities.
Often are people stuck in one perspective, because they have perceived something the same way for a long time. This can sometimes lead to living your life on automatic pilot because you simply create a standard perspective with what you perceive. You are no longer interested in what other's think or see and become stubborn. It's important that you allow yourself to switch places with somebody else and listen to what other people have to say instead of staying with your truth.
I try to listen to other people all the time to prevent myself from blindly following one truth, while there are multiple truths that i don't know about. By simply listening or switching position can this perspective be changed and is it easier to solve a particar problem without judging and standing still.
You can train your perspective, by doing new things and by focussing on what other people are telling you. Most of the time people are to busy about thinking what they are going to say after the other person is done talking. Don't do that and really, really listen to what the other person is saying. Push your ego asside and broaden your horizon!
