One gripe that I have is that new users seem to be primarily signing up via FB and Google plug-ins (though given the surge in sign-ups I note that we have now gone invite-only). Going forward, since I believe that many of us share the belief that decentralisation is deeply empowering and drives better individual and collective outcomes, I would urge the Steemit core team to consider allowing folks to sign up via their Onename identity.
OneName (www.onename.com), as some of you will be aware, is an exciting decentralised, blockchain identity project funded by Union Square Ventures amongst others, that promises a future where a pseudonymous identity that is both persistent and reputable is possible. An identity beyond the control of centralised gate-keepers like FB and Google.
I would imagine that approaches such as OneName's (and other such decentralised blockchain-based identity projects) would be highly consistent with the STEEMIT community's core values.
Fred Wilson has written about this in the past (http://avc.com/2014/03/decentralized-identity/)
Would folks of influence on here such as @ned @dan @dantheman @berniesanders @smooth @kushed etc take this proposal into consideration please?
i agree with you even i wanted to use different name

They should allow sign ups via Twitter also. I don't understand why only Facebook and Reddit but not Twitter? A lot of people I know don't use Facebook or Reddit but are on Twitter.

True. Let's hope the platform evolves to support both centralised and decentralised identities as desired by the user
