Steemit: A High School Essay Engine?

in steemit •  6 years ago

It's amazing to see how the promise of $$$ has shaped the content here on steemit. Rather than seeing actual social media content, such as short communications or thoughts being broadcast for the consideration of others, every post seems to be the equivalent of an essay. There are clear separations in thought and prose that occur most clearly in essays that a high school student would write when they don't really care about the topic. There seems to be a real lacking of genuine communication on the platform, and that's an issue.

Am I just missing the people who use steemit as a social media engine? Or is this really just Cryptocurrency Blogging for Money 2: Electric Boogaloo?

Do you see how frequently posts take the exact form of a laborious essay? I could've easily turned this post into a 3 page money-grabber, but what's the point? If you won't use steemit for social media, why do you expect normies to?
