Want to grow your Steemit community? Get on Discord!

I've spent the last three months or so checking out Discord servers. They are hubs for community connection. I've met many fantastic Steemians through my participation in these groups. In the last few weeks, I've worked to take my participation to the next level. I want to tell you about three of these servers; the ones I spend the most time in.

Die Hard Steemit

Die Hard Steemit is the newest of the three. It is founded by @aschatria, features a commenting pod, several link share categories, a crypto specialist and an amazing group of individuals who are eager to support one another's work or just chat in the coffee lounge. I really love the relaxed atmosphere of the group. What I am most impressed by is how hard @aschatria works to benefit this community while building it.

If you ever pop into this group, stop over in the "blockbuster" channel. I'm a server counselor. That channel is where anyone can bring blocks, troubleshoot their art, or find inspiration. I'm excited to be able to volunteer my coaching services in the group and do so because I believe in it.

TeamGirlPowa

This server is dedicated to supporting education and equality for women (and, yes, men are welcome if they uphold the ideals of the space). It was founded by @limabeing with @thekittygirl as admin. This is a place for deep conversation and social change.

I am honored to be trusted in this group that supports education and equality with a moderator role for the mental health channel. There, I periodically host a "safe space" where group members can check in and unload. The only requirements are compassion for ourselves and others in how we speak. So far several individuals have shared pieces of their journeys and received support not just from me, but from other members of the community. It's beautiful to have a space dedicated to vulnerability. I have been hosting a similar space on Facebook for two years now. It feels wonderful to share that space in a group dedicated to raising each other up.

Steemit Bloggers

Steemit Bloggers was founded by @jaynie. This server is more than a like/upvote exchange. While that does happen, members are required to comment as well, and community interaction is encouraged. Steemit Bloggers is backed by @appreciator who gives three 5SBD votes per day for best posts in any category. This group is regularly vetted for inaction and tightly moderated.

I don't have a role in Steemit Bloggers, but I like to hang out there. In fact, that group is what inspired my 5SBD for best comment weekly challenge. It's a way to give back not just to my fellow SB community members, but to Steemit as a whole.

Steemit Bloggers is not currently accepting new members.

I was super lucky that @techslut brought me into a couple of servers early on, and that's certainly helped me get to know people. A new server I like is the LGBT+ discord server, founded by @sykochica and co-moderated with @ancapbarbie. People can find it at https://discord.gg/reCah

Ya, I have too much free time ...

I'm the same way about Discord. I was on steemit for about a month, and felt as though I was floundering then I joined Discord.

I belong to about a dozen groups and am active in probably six. I do check in on the other groups for updates, etc but I am frequently in the homesteadersonline, qurator, steemitbloggers, thestemengine and muxxybot.

It really, really helps to have a community. Steemit is overwhelming otherwise. It's not easily navigable, certainly isn't intuitive (although it is simple), and there is a flood of voices every minute of every day. It's good to be able to narrow the scope. I'd like to look into homesteadersonline, qurator and muxxybot. It's coming to Spring and I have all this land . . .

They are all GREAT groups. Even though I belong to quite a few on Discord, I consider the homesteaders one my home base. It's where I started and what I post about.

And yes, making the connections with people through the groups has been s beneficial to me and my advancement on steemit.

Fantastic. If you are able to share an invite on Discord, would you mind?

Sure!!

There is a welcome channel and the Front Porch which is the main chat area!

Woohoo! I'm there and I'll be exploring today. I really miss working with plants and I very much want to set up a water catchment system and finally get my compost started.

This is what I do
I hope succeed

That's right! We are friends in all three groups, aren't we? These servers have the best people. And you're doing very well!

yes of course =D

thanks for the post @shawnamawna, a lot of science that I can take.
see also my friends post

Thank you.

P.A.L

Although I keep receiving random "ASL PLS (age, sex, location)" messages which I despise. 😂

Other than that, I have befriended some new people and I am always online. Pretty addictive!

I'm in P.A.L. as well. It's a great group!

Should have said I'm in PAL as @shawnamawna. I guess I commented from @nat5an's account last night.

Thank you for sharing this valuable information with us. All of the three of these servers that you've mentioned sound very interesting.
Discord sure is the best place not only to meet new people and get help if you have any problems but also to find great posts (like this one from you that I've found there) and learn something with every visit.
Have a great day! 💚

You're welcome. :) I hope you have a great day too!

Oops. Was logged into the wrong account when I responded, but same sentiment, just more obviously as me!

I joined so many discord channels throughout the whole time I was on steemit, that now it would be impossible to stay active on all of them!
But I really enjoy being on Steemit Bloggers and I like rules and daily rewards from @appreciator.
Hopefully this particular channel will grow a lot as time goes by!

I think it will. It's a great group and @jaynie is really on it.

Really helpful post, I’m new here and just started using Discord yesterday. I’m part of the #teamgirlpowa channel already and it’s great. Definitely going to check out the Steemit Bloggers channel too! Thanks for the tips. :)

They are both fantastic groups. :)

Thank you for mentioning us, yes, I admit it was a pretty long haul till now.
But things will only get better!

They will. As someone who launched and runs a social media group (related to my non-profit), it is a process of evolution and adaptation. Our next step is moving to Discord from Facebook, where we actually moved from Twitter. You will definitely get an invite. :)

Definitely gonna check out some Discord servers. It's a bummer that Steemit Bloggers isn't accepting any new members though... :/

True, but it makes sense. The group is really getting on its feet. There is a lot of work involved in running a server and maintaining community engagement. I'll let people know if it opens back up.

I only joined Discord in the last few days, but I am happy to be a part of #TeamGirlPowa

Eee! I'm really happy to hear that. It's a great group.

Yeah, I'm enjoying it so far.

Discord has been SO overwhelming for me, but it is getting better. I have a couple that I interact with regularly, one of them being steemitbloggers. Also Isle of Write and Minnow Support. I like the sound of TeamGirlPowa and what they stand for! I have also considered joining the Die Hard one, but I'm afraid that I'm just going to join too many and overwhelm myself!

Isle of Write is phenomenal, although I haven't been able to get myself fully established there. I think once I have a good routine with these three servers, I can manage regular participation in a fourth. Lots of upvoting on my part, so I also have to be careful not to drain my VP.

Sharing is caring. I am glad that you've shared the opportunity to everyone here on steemit to help them grow as a community! :)

Community is one of my favorite words. I'm glad I have something to share that is useful!

Thank you so much for the mention @shawnamawna - really appreciate it! And yes, I couldn't agree with you more! Discord is a fantastic growth tool! Especially our amazing community hehehe.... (not bias at all lol)

Thanks for reppin!!! U r the best. We are so lucky to have u with us

I have to agree with you Discord is a great place to meet and discuss things with people of like minds and interests. I don't spend as much time as I would like to in there, but the time that I am able to spend in there is time well spent. Normally I'll be in thesteemengine or steemusa , there are a couple others but these are my primary ones.
