If you are one of my older followers (which means you were here, like, a week and a half ago -- this channel is growing by 100+ followers every week), you'll be familiar with my ongoing "debate" with 007 himself: James Bond.
Well, I've decided to do a postmortem on this little exchange, because it is actually fascinating when you consider a few things.
First, the record was set straight for Steemit
The simple fact is, Steemit is not a Ponzi or pyramid scheme. Those schemes require up-front investment from new members in order for older members to be paid. Steemit does not operate that way. Not even close. Rather, users are paid out whatever they are owed as a function of the protocol. It has nothing to do with what new investors pay or don't pay.
If Steem has a good month, Steemit pays the users whatever portion they have earned.
If Steem has a bad month, Steemit still pays the users whatever portion they have earned.
So I was able to defend Steemit in a public forum and refute the faulty arguments of our favorite English double-agent.
However, that would simply be a lost cause in the old days. Just another pointless argument on the internet to be swept into the dust-bins under the bridge where the trolls live, having accomplished nothing and persuaded noone.
This brings me to my next point...
Second, look what I got paid for doing this
Here are all of the posts I made regarding this argument and what they've earned so far:
- STEEMIT Is A Ponzi Scheme - Refuted! -- $24.73
- STEEMIT Is A Ponzi Scheme - Refuted! (continued...) -- $30.61
- "Steemit Is A Pyramid Scheme" || The Continuing Saga Of The Cognitive Dissonance Of James Bond -- $13.38*
- Perhaps THE END??? || The "Steemit Is A Pyramid Scheme" Saga, Staring James Bond -- $4.02
So what we are looking at here is a total -- on the lowest potential end -- of $72.74 earned for arguing with a troll on the Internet.
You tell me: have you ever heard of such a thing?
Steemit has completely changed the game for internet arguments.
Not only are they no longer "useless" -- they actually have the potential to have direct economic value.
What could this mean?
Well, I'd actually like to ask you something.
Have you ever seen someone post something on Facebook or YouTube and thought to yourself:
MAN, I would really like to set this guy straight! But it's just not worth it... I don't have the time and nothing will come of it anyway, so nevermind...
Well, now you no longer have to think that. Instead, we have a brand new situation where debating the RIGHT views -- standing by and defending your own convictions and moral positions -- could possibly become a career for keyboard warriors.
I could potentially create a whole series of posts dedicated to debating people on the Internet, and because people really love that shit, It'll likely be a big payoff.
What an amazing time to be on Steemit!
The reality is, this would be impossible to recreate on any other platform.
They simply don't have the tools for it.
Steemit has the tools to completely change the game on the internet.
This is just one small example of how it can do that.

Oh my. I dig this post. No one truly gets paid to engage with a troll.
On the other hand, what about Steemers deliberately engaging with a troll so they can post their adventures here?
Either ways:
Steemit had added the "fun" back to life.
