SteemIt FAQ? WTF?
Yesterday I was reading a very interesting post written by @drakos, in which he suggested people to read the FAQ. Up until that moment, I didn’t have a clue that SteemIt actually had a FAQ, although I had been wondering why there was no clear handbook on how to use SteemIt that was provided by the platform itself.
I can almost hear you rolling your eyes...
“Of course there’s a FAQ list”.
I can’t blame you... After all, I’ve been hanging around on SteemIt almost every day for the last 4 months.
How on earth could I have missed there was a FAQ-section?
I guess I got in and bumped into the right posts at the right time, because it didn’t take me very long to figure out how SteemIt worked and what I was supposed to do or not to do. Maybe it’s because I’m me. I don’t mean to sound cocky, but I’m a friendly, polite girl who knows how to behave and I seem to have a talent to pick things up quickly.
SteemIt’s popularity has gotten a huge boost these last couple of weeks. Scrolling the ‘SteemIt’ tag stream, you can see that the number of new users has gone up significantly. I can’t even count how many posts I’ve come across in which people ask for help on how to get started. To be honest, if I see these posts have some comments already, I simply don’t open them anymore. If there’s one that has been ignored and has no comments yet, I try to give some good advice, but there’s such a lot to explain that I often don’t know where to start.
Finally I can tell people to go read the FAQ to find the answers to their question.
What a huge timesaver this will be :0)
I haven’t had the time to read all of it yet (it’s quite a long list), but I already know loads of people didn’t read the FAQ either and are violating the SteemIt rules without knowing (or without giving a f**).
Just to give you an example: we all know that copy/paste content is considered as spam. Just like we all know that comments in which people do not contribute to the conversation but still ask for a follow are considered to be spam too.
What I didn’t know is that ‘Posts that require upvotes to enter or play in a contest or game’ are also considered as spam. I don’t think I every ran into a contest or a game that didn’t require an upvote to enter...
Literally everything is covered in this FAQ-section.

I haven't read all of it yet, but so far it answered every single question I had.

True. I’ve been listing all tools (some are not on the SteemIt tools-page), with the idea to make a reference post, but every day I find a new one... :-)

SteemIt has a steep learning curve indeed. That's why many newcomers leave. They come with high expectations, and don't realize it's all work and little play out here.
But you learn stuff while you're going along...
