Is it easy to overcome bad habits?
What is it that motivates your daily lives? How come you wake up every day at the same exact time, to repeat the same exact pattern you did the day before? Even though deep inside, you where convinced that you would be able today to change that and be a different person?
How can you just go on and swipe years of being programmed to obey and meet deadlines, when you can't even change the mentality that it forces you to behave properly and meet those expectations you do to get rewarded. Never speak up and retain your safe sweet position at your work, the one that kills everything you ever dreamed being younger. I know obligations, family, security.
So everything you do, you do it out of a habit you are being a good employee with a big fake smile, give a big "thank you" to your boss in the end of the month, which he does not even welcome that back. Then you get to call it a day, and head back hone to put that thin and exhausted paycheck at your families table, there are people that don't even enjoy appreciation for that from their significant others, instead get yelled during meal. You have like another 3-4 hours being you again. So the real you must shower eat, clean up shit, fall in love, raise children, meet friends, being social and everything that really gives life a meaning for 3 to 4 hours per day maximum. Unless you love your job or you are your own boss (and you are not in debt) that must hold some degree of satisfaction other wise is a sad depressing situation you want to get out of. Many of those individuals will try to push that negativity towards internet strangers, in the form of trolls or malicious actions or whatever makes them feel better for a little bit.
I only bet that humans like apes and monkeys as primary mammal are one and the same. Miming each other behavior obtaining knowledge from an existing knowledgeable base but not able to share and obtain experience with any other way rather than personal involvement. So when it come to habits you develop your own. And that kinda makes you and me who we are.
Being a hard working individual for the biggest part of my life I knew that I will get rewarded one way or the other. When I started to suspect that my work it is not going to be appreciated properly in 3-5 years from that point I realized that there should be a critical change of me and my habits. Namely my job and my entire philosophy of values. I had no idea of what I was going to do though, so i started with reading about blockchain and fintech over luck, which where just out at the time. So I reached out for some knowledge base to get educated. And after a year or two started gaining experience on it. It totally changed the entire code on my brain of what it means to work and what the acceptable effort vs the acceptable time-frame was for me. I calculate most things in time and not money for the last 4 years. My first plan was do be reached at 5 years. It is just another year and I will know if I made it or not. I probably will though. Hardly missed any of my targets in between.
I like to win than lose most of the time. You could say I am like most of you. The only time I have found my self saying it is ok to lose some was with steemit and the way that I was spending my votes to people, strangers, for none reason other than help them and reward them for their work. But I am still ok with that today if 10% of my votes go at a**holes scamms and schemes that cannot appreciate the work that others have done or do and the rest 90% goes to people that can and are totally worth all and every help they get, or if just because they are in need. I am still ok with that, it is an acceptable loss in my book.
So for the last years I have being making quite a lot of changes in my life. If you where describing my today self to my 4 years ago one I would thought you are talking for a totally different person. There are not many things that upset me anymore and I can be the hardest to judge my self when I go easy with my choices.
From personal experience I would say that changing bad habits is nowhere near as hard as you think it is. It only take as much effort as turning a switch on and off.
It is about dedication and commitment.
Something easy to track on steem's blockchain.
In a year from now I will be a totally new personality probably with more experience and I already feel the need to set new goals and find new interests for my life. I again have no idea of what that will be and I am running out of bad habits I can escape from, there are just a couple left.
I am sure I will make the changes I need towards the personal happiness I am after. Even if that is just an utopia I won't quit, I never did.
Artwork cover credits me.
So you can just upvote that and skip reading. It took me more than writing. lol.
We content creators so bloody funny aren't we!
Sadly I am at the first stage of what you are describing.
I am at a full time job unrelated to what I studied, which for now it is not a problem but the minimal i wage i get in Greece is. Looking for a cheap home, I have some support from people near me but I also want to find time and share thoughts and things to the steemit community that make me feel nice.
I don't think profits right now but seeing that some thoughts I researched / shared / expressed was upvoted by some people and even more importantly if they took the time to comment really warms me up.
It take some courage to change stuff. Time will show eventually if I manage some things I have in mind as you did.

I can only upvote your comment. I can't really reply something more meaningful than this.

To be honest from my personal experience a man can change, but i wouldn't say as easy as an on-off switch.it needs real self confidence and to set a goal.
You have to be dedicated and stubborn in order to achieve the results you are after.Even if we are talking about ourselves.
Admitting that you are a totally different person than the person 4 years ago is like setting an example to all of us that everything can be done if our desire to do so is greater than anything else. And i am glad that you like your new self!
Because others will love him!
Have a great day my friend!

You only need more time for your self in order to track what you want to change. It is the pace of modern life that keeps us occupied more than it should and keeping us off from trying to change the things we need.
Not harder than turning a switch on and off for any of us. If we all push the switch together the revolution will start. And instead of changing our own lives we will change the world.

Great post! It's always important to improve your way of living, get new goals in live and of course to make sure that you're happy. I think Steemit is great when it comes to these aspects! It helps the ones who need it and your work gets appreciated by strangers, you get good feedback and on top of that you can also make money out of your posts! :) So for everyone who doesn't get the attention that they're supposed to get at work, I would consider Steemit as the perfect platform to be seen :)

Making rewards and money out of my blog is a side effect of who I am and what I do. As it is everything in our lives. Side effects of who we are.
thanks for stopping by.

Though it is very hard to change your habits, some people make it possible and some of them tried but have never become successful.

You are an example of a rolling stone that never weeds. A restless spirit that won't compromise for long, and that's how we should be. When situations, people, our very self makes you feel trapped it is always almost mandatory to think things over and step up. Changes are good when routine is eating you up. Taking time to reflect upon your life every once in a while is necessary.
Humans are not static, they evolve, everything evolves and adjusts according to the new data. So should we.
Have a nice day @skapaneas! :)

I am way more idealist and romantic that my blog makes it feel I am. But I still fight for my believes and my goals. I think that most of the people that know me even a little bit can tell that.
Thanks for your supportive words. :)
Edit: This post was meant to display that I can sympathize with the efforts and the struggles newcomers have when they see people like me semi succeeding at steemit being bitter towards me of how I use my upvotes and my flags. Our difference is they think of it as a fast cash scheme where I see it as an investment. I am fine though because it inspires me again to write and justify my choices further.

You’re living the “dream”. It takes guts. Bravo.
I have a similar feeling towards the “wasted” upvotes... it’s hard to trust people without being vulnerable. So that is another tricky balancing act.
@motoengineer recently wrote a post similarly describing how we only have about 3-4 hours to ourselves. It’s a bit scary but eye opening at the same time.
Nice artwork too, by the way!
