I love the original nin version but trent agrees with you, he said cashes cover was better then he original. Im one of those people that doesn't like covers or remakes though. I have played the cash version at the bar on the jutebox a couple times though I will admit.

I respect that. Not much into covers myself. BUT when they add a personal touch I can like it.
Singing the same song in just the same way as the original is pointless. Thats why I dislike TV shows like "Idol" etc.
