I just signed up but did NOT receive $10 worth of Steem Power

Yeah I just signed up too... $10 is no where to be seen... It's a conspiracy to get the subscriber base up!

I don't think it is a conspiracy or intentionally. I think they didn't "connect" it to the "real-time exchange rate" to prevent the effects of "pumps and dumps" on the big exchanges and just forget to task one or two of the developers to keep an eye on the average exchange rate and the promotion Steem Power new users get, to make sure it reflects (at least almost) the real daily average exchange rate.

Right. It's static but the price of STEEM has gone down since it was set to that. I suggested in a post I made a little while back that the number be dynamic to the Steem Dollar price feed (a weekly median) and then rounded down to the nearest whole number.

Oh, thank you! At least one person who is objective and sees it in the same way I do. That this is a problem that needs to be fixed and can easily be fixed. I was already worried that you can post anything on steemit.com but don't dare to criticize it!

Yes, I think a weekly average of the average exchange rate would be a solution - either manually or automatically adjusted.

I see you're still debating in this post, and your point is good, but it's made. You seem like a good writer, start writing posts on Steemit and soon the $4 disparity won't look so significant. Welcome!
