The people who set up steemit are part of the crypto, bitcoin, Earth dollar type craze which I have looked into as well. I have read their posts, read full threads about the platform and found that I have met no one who was able to use the sign in on-line to trade the steemit dollars for other types of alternative currency. However, there are places which accept your $10,000 which means you cannot remove your $10,000 for 2 years or there is a penalty and then you can move your steem dollars through their service. However, there is usually a time delay so if by chance you had put into the account the 10,000.00 for bitcoin as an example and watched bitcoin rise and were waiting for that magic moment when it hit $20,000 so you could put in the request for $10,000 and put your money back into a decent interest account it never happened. As for steemit, I came here because malware crashed my hard drive and I could only work offline on an uninstalled ubuntu program and the steemit saved my work. If I write about autism or native Americans amazingly the value of my account may rise, a bit. If I write about politics, no rise in value. Most likely because I do not care about likes only views and shares. And, I also use Wordpress. I prefer bitchute to Dtube but that's just me. And, I do not care to be anonymous. If I have enough in steemit to boost a post and I think the post is worth it I will use the steemit to boost the post. So far, after a year and a couple hundred posts that is about as good as it gets. If you want to make money you might be able to do it with something simple like a meme following if your good at making memes or a news of the day column. The people who have been around a long time seem to have crypto ideology in common, but I could be wrong. Maybe I am just not a team player.
