I joined the crypto scene around January 2017 after reading about predictions of Bitcoin prices to rise exponentially as many other users can relate to!
I did also around 5 years ago hear about Bitcoin in 2012 whilst I was living in Malta, working in the offshore finance industry at a trust company where I would look after wealthy peoples' financial assets, assisting them in reducing or avoiding tax legally through various tax loopholes that our company would discover. At this time in Malta I began reading about bitcoin and I believe it was around £50 a coin and I thought 'no its too big of a risk to invest any money into...' I only wish I had invested a small sum, even £1000 then would be worth around £38,000 today! I'm sure many others have similar stories!
Initially I thought this would be such an amazing opportunity to make some extra money whilst working too so I immediately bought some Ethereum on Coinbase! I put in £300 whilst the price was still around £7 each.. I had it in there for a day or two and I then made a big mistake, as soon as I saw the price dropping a little I began to panic like a newbie. I immediately took my money out when it reached £270 as I couldn't afford to take the risk...lesson learnt, don't put in money you can't afford to lose!
With my money sat in the Euro wallet, I left it there for another 2 months, doing absolutely nothing as I couldn't yet enable the feature to withdraw fiat currency back to my bank account. Then all of a sudden with the prices shooting up for ethereum I begin investing it back in. LTC comes online and I take a gamble investing £400 whilst around the £13 mark... I then make over 100% return a few days later and I was very ecstatic.
Perhaps a little too much as I begin spending most of my free time researching everything I can about crypto-space and oooh my... how much I discovered was going on! There are so many ways to invest your money, finding the best avenues was the main goal. Which coins are a scam or which cloud mining co's to avoid... In the end, after much deliberating and watching many videos on youtube, gave me confidence in a few trustworthy websites. I have since sent some small amounts of money to Genesis-Mining, Hash Flare and also Bitconnect.
I feel these 3 sites will suffice for me and will return a steady & safe flow of capital/coins as I definitely do not want to get stressed trading and checking prices 24/7! I could see from the outset that trading would bring no happiness or peace of mind, which I place immense value upon. Trading is in essence gambling, something which is addictive and can cause problems in ones life, a precaution to those deciding to trade! If anyone out there does trade and feels the stresses in their daily lives, I would highly recommend trying to meditate everyday as you will instantly notice your body relaxing & letting the built up tension release.
Anyway, at the moment I am trying to figure out what type of posts I should be writing, obviously something that I enjoy talking about, something that resonates with me & that flows easily. I will be working towards finding that happy medium in the coming months and if you find what I talk about interesting & would want to hear more then please let me know.
I may even just talk about my daily life, my thoughts, my understanding of the world & our place in it, the future, our spirituality.
Also , how we can strive towards creating a beautiful future as I'm sure many people in crypto understand the current affairs of the planet and the predicament we have put ourselves into as a species.. We understand crypto is the future, something which will decentralise the money supply, taking power & control away from central banks and thus empowering the individual to have control over their own life. This dream is held by many, it isn't too far away from manifesting, bitcoin, altcoins, STEEM are all a part of this.
Thanks for reading!

Welcome to Steemit, I think you will find that the amount of development going into STEEM will result in it having as high a potential as any of the other top tier coins (BTC, ETH). There are some amazing things going on here, and this will be so much more than just a social blogging site.

We must be a bit patient as the developers still have some things left on their roadmap before they really start advertising.

Welcome to Steemit sol1!
Thanks for the explanation about your investments in cryptocurrencies. I especially liked the part about the stress that trading can bring. I couldn't trade either and that is why I'm here. This platform allows a slow and steady climb without any initial investment and a possible jump if it takes off. I also enjoy helping others and one way to do that is to share my research with them. Below is some of what I have learned so far...
As someone who is fairly new myself, I had many questions about what Steem is and how to use the site. There are many tutorials explaining the basics of Steemit (the site) and Steem (the currency), however after a week of studying these tutorials, I was still left with some questions, so I began to experiment and ask others for answers. I figured that if I couldn’t readily find answers to my questions, then others just joining the community must surely be struggling with similar questions as mine. This prompted me to write and post what I had learned onto my blog page in an effort to save others the many hours I expended on research. You can find my article here: https://steemit.com/steemhelp/@happyme/what-most-tutorials-don-t-tell-you-about-steemit-com
Another thing you should know is that writing articles is not the only way to earn Steem. You can upvote articles written by others and earn a portion of what they make on their article. Unless a post is resteemed (similar to FaceBook’s ‘share’ button), the original post only earns an income until it is paid out, 7 days after it has been posted. By resteeming an article, that post’s payout is extended and allowed extra time to earn some upvotes from the viewers of the resteemed post. A resteemed post is copied to the blog page of the person doing the (share) resteeming.
What this all means is that for you to earn a portion of the post you are upvoting, you need to make your upvote before the pay-out has been made. Look for the bent arrow icon immediately to the left of the REPLY button at the bottom of every post. If that resteem button is NOT visible, it means the posting is no longer active and you will not get any income from that post (it will only show that you appreciated the poster’s work, exactly like the ‘LIKE’ button on facebook).
It doesn’t cost you any Steem to upvote someone’s work and in fact it WILL earn you some. This is why many people will gather a list of people they follow and upvote their work on a daily basis. These people will go to their FEED tab (it drops down in a menu when you click your personal icon found at the top right of the screen when you are logged in) and upvote everything their followers post. In case you don’t already know, the FEED tab displays everything that the people you are FOLLOWING have posted. New posts that you have not yet read are highlighted in bold.
I sincerely hope that this welcome message is valuable to you and encourage you to follow the link above for further information. I will be adding additional posts to my blog as I discover more about Steem and Steemit.com so if you wish to be notified about those new postings, I suggest following me.
Thanks for reading and I wish you success here on Steemit!
