Steemit Guide & My STEEM Days: How Do I Work?

in steemit •  7 years ago

Hello people,

Today I'm bringing you a different post. Rather than telling you how you should do "X" and "Y", I'm going to tell you how do I STEEM.

I'm going to tell you how I work on a daily basis to grow my Steem Power and my audience, so you can see if you're missing something, or on the other hand if you see I'm missing something (let me know if this is the case).

There are no secrets when it comes to growing your Steem account, or are there? Well, time to find out if you aren't doing everything you can, or if on the other hand I'm missing some vital things.

If this is something interesting for you, then read below...

Start of the Day: What To Do?

So, when I wake up, I take care of whatever pressing matter I have to take care in my offline world, such as work, my company and some other stuff.

But when I have a bit of time, it's time to hit the STEEM blockchain to put in a little work.

The first thing I do everyday is go over to my "Replies" section to see every comment on my posts and every reply to my comments, you can see it here:

I read every comment and answer them to the best of my ability. That's right, I leave NO comment unanswered, after all what kind of blogger are you if you don't listen to your audience?

The next thing I do is I hop on the mentions tool to check if someone wrote a comment or a post about me, or if my name was mentioned in the blockchain.

I do it through a Chrome Extension called "Steemitmoreinfo" but people use different tools for that, search around for a mention checker for Steem, there are a lot of them and GINAbot does the trick marvelously as well.

Here's how it looks like with the browser extension:

I read those comments and answer them to the best of my ability, or just see what they're mentioning me for and act accordingly.

If they wrote a post about me, I usually thank them for the mention and drop them a good upvote as by mentioning me they are spreading my name, blog and influence accross their audiences and the random passer-by.

The DESERVE to be thanked!

When this is taken care off, I take a little break.

1st Post of the Day: Here's How It Goes!

I start off by opening Hackmd.io

I use this editor as a way to format my posts and make them look lovely, with my Dragon dividers, signature, titles and bite-sized content.

I divide the text by making headers, dividing sections, making short sentences and using line breaks.

Using these techniques the text appears to be easier to read, and shorter, so it looks good and keeps the consistency of a great post without the bad wall of text feel some of those have.

Make it light weight, people are lazy, if your content is good you just need them to start reading anyway, so try to hook them by typing with enthusiasm and going straight to the point.

Once this is done, I go to the next step RIGHT AWAY.

Time for a Commenting Round:

The way I used to do it was I was using my commenting technique from my "Advanced Commenting Techniques" Post.

However, that only works when you're smaller.

With more people on my content and more followers, I get more and more people to share the love with, and VP is a precious resource.

What I do now is I open up the profiles of whoever voted on my last post, then I open up the profiles of those who mentioned me, then I open up the profiles of friends and Crypto Empire key members and I comment and vote a post on each.

If someone was extra generous, I comment on some other comments on their post, or comment and vote more posts.

What does this do for me? It ensures that the VP is spent supporting those who support me.

But I still have extra VP some times.

Here's to the next phase.

The Day's 2nd Post:

I don't always write a 2nd post, sometimes I only write once, so this phase can be present in some days while absent in the others.

When I publish my 2nd Post, I write it the same way I did the first.

There's not much difference here except the topic, and I always try to keep the quality high so I don't drop it just because I'm starting to feel a bit more tired.

However, some days I don't feel like publishing my 2nd post, and I skip this to go directly to the next phase.

Crypto Empire, Communities and... More!

When I'm done with the previous phases, I usually already have comments and replies on my first post for the day.

I repeat the first phase of the day, checking comments, mentions and replies.

Finally, it's time to go to my family at Crypto Empire and see what's up.

Sometimes we talk trash with each other, some times we help each other with doubts, sometimes there is a problem that needs fixing, some times embassies have cool news, and more...

On the other hand, I also participate in other communities and try to help out when I can.

Then I think of ways to expand the reach of the Empire and to include more communities in it to ensure every Steem Blockchain community can promote what they're doing there in order for the Steem ecosystem to grow.

I'm not afraid of letting other communities "steal" my members. In fact, my community helps other communities recruit people who are interested in their work, and gives the Steem ecosystem a way to identify key communities to join.

Checking How It All Went:

After all is done, it's time to go to check my rewards.

It's also time to go to smartmarket.com to see if any VP I still had left the previous day was sold as a vote to a whitelisted user on the blockchain. (those who publish quality content).

On the other hand, I also go to check how my signature referral links faired.

To finish the day, I head on over to Steem Reports to check some analytics and scroll through my feed to vote and comment some more on posts I love, those of my friends, fresh users who need a push or neglected Steemians who published good stuff but have close to no rewards.

Once this is done, I close my laptop and go to bed.

During the night, the replies, mentions and comments build up again, and the next day there's more work to be had.

Cheers!

best regards,

How are you @spiritualmax
maybe this is useful, but do you have any way to fight boredom for me beginner?
honestly, sometimes I feel bored when running out of ideas to make a post, or post not get results. do not be hypocritical, we all expect rewards from our posts, at least one reads.
do you have a solution for it?

cheers!

Yeah! I was going to make another post but since my comments goes in the same road as yours I decide to reply here. The thing is the reason why we are running out of ideas is because there isn't enough people here that share our hobbies, since this is just beginning, so I am just going to stay around until this get's bigger enough were people that share my hobbies comes, and before that happen from time to time throw a post here and there to see what happens.

My advice, don't get frustrated of not having money on your post, one day your comrades will come and see your post and follow you, or the ship will sink and it all goes downwards, but at least you stood congruent to yourself until the very last day of your existence, that's the ultimate trace of a man!

Thanks friends... It is best oration... I like it...👏
Cheers!

@jvaldivia and @moexyn19

thank you so much for the answer and the reply. I was just looking for some extra initiative for creating my articles!

Cheers,

@t-miles

Less people in your niche means more opportunity to dominate it before the masses come!

Your ending paragraph is where I see you get that!

Im not a hypocrite at all.

We all want rewards sure, but we have to work for it, and work is boring... I dont like spending as much time as I do on here, but I treat it like work so I push myself to do it anyway.

There's no tip on how to make boring stuff less boring, so just force yourself to do it and tell yourself results will come.

My apologies if my comment sounds like I'm saying you are hypocrite.

I like your attitude of feeding your audience and actually I'm going to copy it, saving my voting power to people that reply my comments and post since that's all what we want in any social media platform, finding people that shares our ways, likes and hobbies.

congrats for being so dedicated! I will definitely try GINA too
pretty much I have the same routine
cheers @spiritualmax

Great! Nice to see you Alexandra.
Cheers

pretty cool, I didn't know about hackmd.io. I used a different one, but this one looks better, will give it a try. How many hours are you usually able to put into Steemit on an average?

About 4 or 5, something like that...

Hmm, that's good... I will have a to figure a way to spend some more time on Steemit

Awesome post. You just gave me like a steem schedule.
Thanks for the enlightenment on the extensions & the productive editor - hackmd.io

You've taken my steem experience to the next level. Thanks!

Yeah the extension is pretty cool, just love it!

I feel good because my routine is quite similar. Makes me feel like I might be on the right track. I think the only place I fall behind is hitting the Discord group because I'm usually busy with the kiddies at night, but they certainly need my "upvotes" as well :)

Yeah, enjoy your kids while they are kids, living life matters the most.

Haha! I feel like I'll always have kids in the house. My oldest is 22 and my youngest is 2!

Yo man! It's been awhile. I've read a lot of your recent posts but I guess I feel like I just didn't have a lot of real contribution to put in and just kind of left it at that. (I would vote more often, but the forced 100% votes makes me conserve my 0.01 vote for smaller people :) )

I just wanted to leave you a comment to say I didn't lose interest in your kick-ass page, I've just decided to put more time into my own Steemit experience now that you've helped me understand it a lot better. I also wanted to mention that I did learn a lot from this post and it inspired me to reach out to you.

Hackmd.io sounds like something I've been looking for for awhile. I feel like I have a good understanding of the github and was wondering, what am i missing? Also, I have yet to figure out how to know if I get a mention, so that was a good reminder that I need to figure that out.

I also would like to point out my own two cents on the replies thing: I find the replies section on Steemit somewhat tough to manage and prefer the format on Steemworld.org . I don't know if you've ever used it, but I'm just putting it out there for others who might think similarly to me: it's just a lot easier to keep track of things. I also have a slower computer and it makes a huge difference in the performance of it.

So that's all. Thanks, as always, for all you do. Rock on Max!

Well busy.org is also a useful app.

Way better than the Steemit front-end. I just use the Steemit front-end out of habit.

Plus, don't worry about being quiet lately, I don't want you guys to have to drum roll here every morning to say you're reading :P

Cheers man^!

I wasn't worried, just wanted to drop by and let you know I'm still reading, and say thanks. I've heard a lot about busy.org but I haven't tried it yet. I have a stupid double browser situation going where certain things only work on one while others on another, and my old laptop just can't handle having 'em both going.

Pretty much the same since I have started mirroring your habits except the hackMD!

I looked it up and it is awesome!! Will be using this now.

Engagement is so important to keep people coming back for more. I have started behaving like a dolphin and upvoting good comments.

I love Ginabot so any mentions I get I am able to take a look.

Engage in the comments and replies, write 1-2 good quality posts, engage with the community = success.

Yeah hackMD is what most people use.

Some others use the one that appears when you first google HTML Editor or something.

I used that one as well, but feel Hackmd is superior.

Cheers

Cool, we make almost the same things, but I make my commenting rounds before I do the post of the day. I just make 1 post a day, and sometimes I can't even maintain that rhythm. That's something I need to fix, I should be more consistent.

Anyway, it's cool you did this post. I really think that a good way to improve really fast is by copying the masters, and learning from them :)

By posting and commenting afterwards people who see your comments can check your page and see your fresh post to vote it.

Just a tip :D

Oh, that actually makes a lot of sense o.o I guess I'm going to do it that way from now on...

This is good max i have just realized there is so much i don't yet know about steemit and how to maximize all the tools available. I didn't know about the mention tool, i always wondered how people knew they had been mentioned!
You are one of the good ones and want people to succeed. I know some people would rather hide this information but you let people in on your discoveries, by doing that you also succeed.
Thanks once again

I'm all for disclosing everything I can that would make more people succeed.

The more people succeed, the more STEEM will get advertised, the more people would come, the more the price would rise.

Thanks max for sharing this, there must be a pattern to succeed in anything. For most of my time here on steemit I have been doing it randomly. Now I know what to do.

No problem man :D

Cheers

Like a Boss! I appreciate you sharing an insight into how you Steem.

I can definitely learn from your organised approach. I will be looking into the application you use to edit your posts as well as Crypto-Empire.

Cheers for sharing your wealth of knowledge.

Yeah, hop on over to the Empire, we'd love to have you there man :D

This post shows your dedication to the Steemit community. :) You've done real well Rukka. ^^

Thanks Dawny ;)

You are the perfect super drupa steemian example! I am impressed! 🙀🌺

Thank you my dear lady :D
Cheers! 🌺🌺

Hey @spiritualmax,

Thanks for outlining your Steemit day. That's always so helpful for older members but especially newbs trying to fit this new platform into their daily routine.

I also hadn't heard of hackMD before. ANY help with formatting and getting posts pretty gets a big Yayyy from me. Thanks!

Yeah HackMD is very cool.

Certainly a good quality of life tool to improve how we write on the blockchain.

Used HackMD last night, @spiritualmax.

It was so easy to see exactly what was going on in the post with the side-by-side set-up. It was BUSY this morning though. Couldn't connect for a second post, so winged it in plain 'ole Steemit. ;)

LOVE HackMD! Thanks again for the heads-up.

So much great content here. I didn't know anything about the mentions extension. I was wondering how we would be able to see if people did that since there really wasn't a good notification system. One thing I have learned while using Steemit is that you need to stay persistent with your posts and not get discouraged when starting out and that eventually the followers and votes will be coming more consistently. These tips that you gave will help out a lot. I am glad I found out the Crypto Empire Community and I'm looking forward to growing with everyone.

Yeah!
Plus, commenting is vital for the newbies, but with comments like these you'll do good :)
Cheers

I have learned the importance of going on other people's posts and engaging with them. Not only is that a great way to meet new people and form relationships with them, but I have met so many interesting people from all over the world. That is one of the things that makes this platform so awesome is that there are people from all over the place and learn about the places they live.

Ack, my one post takes me many many hours, as I said I work so slowly. I guess I have a lot of interruptions throughout the day, kids and stuff. But you have work to go to first...
Why on earth am I so slow? Hahaha.
I do need to get into a routine. How you comment seems great, I reply to all of mine but barely get any new ones out. Opening profiles of those that have commented seems like a great idea :)
Thanks for this <3

No problem...

Seeing as you'll be a star Dtuber, you can always just record videos of you speaking and at least you don't have to worry about writing posts, just speak, smile and show us your ... beautiful eyes of course.

they are a lot of work. making a easy comment and read :) checking out the editor now. a Ned to up my game here :)

Yeap, it takes work but it is worth it!

Like you have said to me one time: "Networking is very important".
And that's true my friend. thank you for showing me those tools. I will check one by one, and see if it really benefits me.

Cheers m8!
