How in the world do so many good Steemit posts have less money than one of the comments on the post?

I still have yet to understand how I can read a great post on Steemit and it may have $0.05 or so and then the first comment or two have several dollars in upvotes.....

So is the lesson to be learned here - Do not make posts unless you have tons of Steem Power and a thousand followers and instead stick to only making comments?

Authors get paid when people like you upvote their post.

This will change, I am quite convinced of this.
At the moment it depends a lot on your own Steem Power andhow connected you are to other Users. Good luck!

the problem is whales only upvote whales, and smaller people just upvote maybe 0.02 if theyre lucky, everyone else is trying their hardest to push into another direction to become rich(er)

I keep telling people, when Im a whale im ONLY going to upvote smaller accounts, theres no reason not to share the love, but the bigger people have created their own eco system where only they thrive

"whales only upvote whales" this is an overly-broad generalization, some whales are greedy pricks and others are very decent people who want to see this platform grow and have as many people as possible succeed. Not everyone will. There is plenty of information posted on how to grow here, but it takes time and work, and too many people here want/expect to buy a Lambo next week.

So it's just like anything else then? Exactly the same way the banking industry operates...

People upvote their own votes... thats legal because if they pay others to vote for them it is the same. Ethically there is a question mark but at the moment it is as it is. I do it sometimes myself... als to motivate myself...

followed (^_^)

Yea, comments are an untapped resource. I've been doing some blogging more, but a well placed comment or GIF has the potential to do very well.

Keep getting to know people. I came across your post in the Discord channel. So that is working!

Random GIF for the lulzzzz

Thanks for the comment @shawnfishbit! Haha I loved that movie when I was a kid.... JOHNNY 5 IS ALIVE! I followed you, have a good one!

Yea, it was CLASSIC. Loved that flick too.

i'm new to this too and i still don't understand it... but i think it's all about the steem power... your follows can see what you comment on other's post and they go there to upvote it maybe? iono this world is just soooo new to me... i feel like i'm a pioneer for my people... the wrestling people... i hope this gets more money than your post just to make the point of absudity... or something... my english is not that good... it's only my first language.

Earlier i read 5 posts that literally blew me away, the time and effort that must have gone into these posts was out of this world, each of them had LESS than 0.50 on them

at the same time, I saw about 15 NSFW posts and around 10 posts of women sitting at cafes, pools or bars with the camera pointed at their face and chest, and i mean just ONE photo in the post.... and a few of these had anywhere from $20 to one having around $133

It really makes you wonder...so many people say "content matters" especially when the basis of the platform is to post things that other people will find helpful to them....all a load of BS i think. in the end, a sexy photo will always outsell a helpful post

Another thing I noticed is how much the bigger players get paid for curation compared to the smaller guys. If curation is going to pay 25% of a posts worth it needs a more fair split. This is just the nature of the beast at the moment. Things will get more balanced as time goes I think.

The same question ????

for me it is like everything in life , don´t try to take advantage , try to give something of value.
