How other people see Steemit? How is it visible to the outsiders?

1. Introducing Steemit to other people and their first reactions.

During attempt of introducing Steemit idea in my country (Poland) to a group of people, I met with different, negative reactions . Unfortunately, negative responses outweigh the positive. Are such reactions wise? I present the main complaints of people, who heard about Steemit for the first time. They come from the comments posted on the popular in my country portal where steemit topic was discussed:

  • "Users group which is present on the site since the beginning, manipulates content and trades bitcoin only among themselves. Money is pumped by the suckers, who think that if they get 0.0000001% interest in the service then it's worth to invest in it, because they think it makes it their business and they become its bosses."

  • "Registration only by Facebook or Reddit account. It is possible that they collect e-mails base + people (Facebook, Reddit), and such a databases may have some value. Nothing but wait for e-mails that will land as spam prepared for a specific user. It is not known how such a database could be used in the future. I think a lot of people at registration gives their real Facebook account so the data is concrete. "

  • "You can already see that shit -entries about nothing are coming rapidly. It depends from luck only wheter they will value your content or not. It has no chance to survive."

  • "MLM - multi level marketing. Just go to steemit.com and read entries and comments. Common licking the eggs and talking about how this project isn't great and how much you can earn on it. "

2. Why are people so suspicious and quick in their judgments?

Personally, I do not know if Steemit will work out in the long run and can't give a 100% guarantee of its success. Despite this I can clearly and distinctly see the potential of this idea. Thats why it is hard for me to understand some people from the above mentioned comments, who without batting an eye nullify this idea and without the slightest check how this mechanism actually works.

Apparently a large group of people treat Steemit like a dark tower of Sauron, from which they should stay away to not get caught up in some monkey business. On the other hand after all, the same people so eagerly are signing up for other online social platforms. Why deny some idea without checking it? On Steemit, ironically answer is the money that authors get for their actions on the page.

Rewards for users play a role of lure for some, but there are also peoples for whom this is an effective repellent. Why is this happening? There are large sums of money at stake so in the case of this second group of people, when they see several thousand rewards under the entries (often even for not much valuable content) alarm starts ringing in their heads and they prefer to keep away from it as they sense a trap.

They tell themselves that this must be a scam. It's not possible, it's utopia. But you won't find out until you sign up, but at the same time you're not signing up because you're afraid it could be a fragrant pyramid scheme or other scam. It's a vicious circle.

Too bad, because these people who keep away from steemit, do not avoid writing a wrongly interpreted and cranky theories about the service, on which they didn't sacrificed even those few minutes to understand.

Or maybe it is even better that such short-sighted people do not participate in the life of the service? Maybe, however, they unnecessarily alienate the project and spread false informations about it for other persons and that's really bad..

Another thing is that wallets are available for inspection to the public so if anyone has any doubts, without much of a problem can see themselves, whether payments to authors actually appear in their wallets, who and what deposits and withdraws.

It is true that what glitters is not always a gold, but in this case, check whether this is actually the gold costs nothing, and those people limit their horizonts themselves which is sad. It's just easier to believe that something that sounds too good to be true is certainly the one big scam.

I do not deny that very often this is the case and it is good to be carefull but before sowing panic and false information among the others, it would be appropriate to check it out for yourself.

3. What will the future bring?

What will come of this idea, I can't tell but we'll probably see it really soon and I'm going to see it directly for myself as it costs me nothing.

One person complained that the home page is mainly the posts about steemit and mutual admiration circle. This is partly true, but it's understandable because the steemit idea exist for not so long and naturally everyone here is excited about it and talk about it.

Anyway I think we should pay more attention to other valuable entries and try to send more of them to the main page. For sure it would look better from the outside and interest more undecided and doubting people. Browsing the homepage today, you can actually come to the conclusion that this service is mainly about steemit, and yet there are so many fantastic entries on various other topics that are often lost somewhere forgotten.

I hope that over time, with the development Steemit, this will change and spread more proportionally, and the home will be filled with materials in which everyone will find something nice. I miss the possibility to personalize homepage for our interest of content.

Also, I'm rather new here, don't write much but I was able to earn a few dollars for my entries. Perhaps not much, but for me it's something as I earned it without my own cash contribution. No one had to convince me to the idea of Steemit. On the portal mentioned earlier, someone added an entry about Steemit and it was enough for me to check it out and it costed me nothing but a couple of minutes. Already this "effort" was profitable for me. I encourage everyone doubting to see with their own eyes. Of course if you have enough courage to sign up and join the community. Nothing to lose, nothing to pay, and you can only gain. I think a good deal? Even if something in the meantime fell apart, you won't be in any monetary way a loser as you didnt deposited any money because it is not necessary. The use of the service is free. You can contribute (invest) more in it but you don't have to.

If Steemit will become more popular in the future, don't be like this lady

I personally see it like this:

People either see it as a scam and there is no way they can make money or get the attention they need or people see it is a get rich quick scheme and they post as fast as they can and whatever they can. Too bad that more people see it as the later.

It's just sad that people people mistreat project, which they did not pay enough attention to, but are first to give a final negative judgement about it

If you actually cured cancer and posted it first on SteemIt you would get every Steem Dollar available.

Probably. The example was ironic of course but you know what I mean. Unfortunately It's actually how some people see it
