Don't loose hope... Regularly participate resteem offers...
Participate giveaways, upvote legends posts so that you can earn curating rewards...
If I give up, then I do not get 52 reputation today. After reaching 48 my tell me to purchase upvotes so I invested littlebit...

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:
