Steemit has become an income spring for too many; a bottomless well of opportunities is being robbed by dozens and dozens of those who consider the webside to be an oil well and when committing their crime they never neglect plagiarism and write some full-of-sorrow-and-pain-stories. In the very beginning Steemit was about producing some high-quality content and providing the system with necessary funds. Still today the number of worthless and empty posts is growing, getting upvotes and filling the feed with rubbish.
This post is my fervent supplication to all the newcomers - please, don't consider Steemit to be a bottomless money well, don't flood the platform with useless posts about sex, drugs or naked girls (sure, they are nice but that kind of stuff does not correspond with Steemit's ground-pillars) trying to make money on other people's bodies and thoughts. Be FAIR, HONEST, FRANK. That will definitely pay up.
In the modern world of hypocrisy, lie and incessant hunger for pleasures such rare platforms as Steemit are a harbour for good content, pure thoughts and philosophy. When I first came to Steemit I got totaly absorbed with posts in Trending; they were about some economic issues, about new people coming telling their stories of success, about roads untravelled and sights unseen. Some of the most popular bloggers like heiditravels are open to the world, they write what they think, they share their experience. I don't want to blame anyone for trying to earn - that is a great motivation for writing though it should not be the ONLY MOTIVATION.
Many think that if they write their own story frankly noone will be interested in it. Indeed. Frankness is a rare and valuable matter that is so cherished in the modern society. To tell the truth, I am sick from all those articles about whores and their panders, about people in need who can hardly make both ends meet and go on robbing and killing, about drug wars and celebrities' affairs. I can read stuff like that on any news webside and the torrents of this doomy and depressive content are endless.
Steemit can and should be an exception, a quite and nice harbour for all those who still think in this world of money-chasing zombies. Bring something new to the platform and don't be afraid to be straight-forward. We appreciate that.

You are correct in saying that there is a lot of posts that are just a copy of other stuff. But the point of the platform is to filter these post with the voting system and it will get there. But you have to keep it mind that the upvoting community might not always think like you. A lot of stuff I don't like gets upvoted and I am fine with that.

Sure, that is ok to publish posts with different views on different matters but still there's so many posts that are produced "to make money only", not to bring sonething new to the system, fresh blood I would say. And this is what disappoints me. I guess that the exchange of opinions and sharing experience should be the number one preference:)

Fresh blood can't even get in right now. So it's totally wasted money too. Basically the front page is starting to look like one of those "OMG I can't believe Google pays me $9,000 a month!" scams. It's causing the site to lose credibility in the eyes of legitimate people who are trying to come to the platform and use it as an agent of change.
But hey, it's our platform. When the 1% controlled 99% of the wealth, the 99% created bitcoin. Steem stems from that same spirit. So imagine what happens to that spirit when this platform becomes over concentrated with too much power in too few hands.

Hopefully this won't come to a point where folks can't do a search for real content. I think if you follow someone who consistently writes honestly you can always catch their real posts. We can form our own sub community of real people.

If there is any type of currency involved there will be those trying to scam to get it. Steemit won't be excused from this reality, but the way in which we respond as a community (through proper curation to remove scamming incentive) will determine what the future looks like for steem in this regard. Personally, I'd feel better knowing that community member squads are downvoting scammers and working to keep the integrity of Steemit intact. It beats having some unknown suits in some office somewhere start censoring all of us because of the actions of a lame few

I wholeheartedly believe, that as steemit matures, the lion share of the revenue will go to thoughtful and creative content creators. Yes there will be a few posts about Kanye and Kim and other silly things, but THOSE will be the exception.
... and Yes , sometime I find it disheartening, just like you may as well, that some spend quality time on creating original, heartfelt, and thought provoking content now and yet have yet to reap any meaningful financial reward from the platform.
BUT that's the Steemit experiment. It's still a few cells worth of an organism, let's see what it grows to. This is the one system that we know at least is not rigged.

I think too many people are attempting, both consciously and unconsciously, to rush new content out in the hope of finding riches.

Meaning that if curators do their job properly, they can flag all the spam. Useless posts that get no rewards will also tank and thus -in the long run- it will not be a behavior that is rewarded...

That is actually also an interesting issue for discussion. Many are eager for super fast results and so they write one good post sharing their thoughts then it gets something like 0.01 SD and so they decide that there is no place for frankness here. That is disappointing but it's simply impossible to have all your posts upvoted

It certainly undermines the hard working steemit community when they spend many hours tinkering with a blog to get it just right , then some one else copys and pastes someone else blog and expects to get rich quick off it. As vadosh stated , it is up to us as the community to ensure this will never succeed . nice post.

The only post of mine that has done particularly well was me sharing a very good Leo Morachelli video from youtube that had been up voted by 18 million people there.
At the same time I used youtube to send Leo a message telling him about steemit.
That post gave me the bulk of what I have in steemit. Leo has lots of good stuff but I have not posted any others as it is my sincere hope he would join us here. With sign ups locked down for the moment that may not happen.
I will share stuff from youtube but I will not use artists there as a cash cow and post all of their content. I will post one, link to their channel and reference them and provide it as awareness.
The rest of what I'll approach will pretty much be my stuff.
As more people gain steem power I think we'll see a lot wider variety of things voted on and it'll be harder to be rewarded by posting the same type of content as someone else.
