100 DAYS OF STEEM : Day 12 - Have You Got Ideas That Will Fly?steemCreated with Sketch.

in steemit •  5 years ago

We’ve just been catching up with all the comments on the last three posts and have been amazed at all the great ideas and feedback people are giving.

We’ll be responding to all of those shortly but in the meantime we want to pick up on one excellent suggestion from @kiwiscanfly from New Zealand.

In a comment on yesterday’s post @kiwiscanfly said “You should do a post asking the community for ideas on this 100 days of steem, there are surely some good ideas out there :)”

That is an excellent idea!

Tell Us Your Ideas for the 100 Days of Steem Project

We are very keen to work with all of you in the community, so we would love to hear your ideas for the 100 Days of Steem project.

There are still 88 days to go, and although we’ve already got a good list lined up there is still room for more.

So tell us what you would like to see included in the 100 Days project.

We can’t promise we will be able to action all the ideas, but we will do our best.

The more achievable your suggestions, the more likely we will be able to implement them.

But remember big changes need big planning and have long lead times.

For the 100 Days project we are looking more for quick fixes and clever ideas that won’t need too much resourcing.

You can give your ideas in the comments below, or if you want to give more details make a post and put the link in the comments.

To spice it up a bit, we’ll be giving out upvotes for the best ideas and suggestions.

We look forward to hearing from you.

The Trending Page

Sorry for the delay in getting this sorted, but we’ve now got the trending page fixed.

Thank you to @whatsup for the post about this…

Steem Witness Forum

Thank you to @greenhouseradio for hosting the first of a new series of Steem Witness Forums yesterday.

They have now posted the recording in case you missed it...

It will be great if more witnesses can attend the next one.

I have my idea here and mentioned you (#the100daysofsteem) in the post: https://steemit.com/hive-185836/@surpassinggoogle/where-do-we-take-steem-from-here-this-publication-was-written-by-a-legitimate-illiterate-and-applies-to-all-blockchains

I hope your read at least. It covers a lot of history and at the bottom part of the post is the ideas to grow communities collectively. It will cost almost zero resources and no additional code and the buzz will be great cos of the inclusion and long term inside out community growth.

Interesting read.

Thank you for this very valuable contribution.

The Steemit Team

Thank you a lot for responding. I did a follow-up to that article based on a frequent question that was asked during a livestream that I did discussing Steem. Kindly read it too!

https://steemit.com/hive-185836/@surpassinggoogle/what-is-the-easiest-entry-point-into-the-world-of-digital-currency-and-blockchain-technology-steem-hive-tron-eth-btc-eos

Thank you - will take a look.

Thank you. The article isn’t showing up on steem anymore though. I had written the article as a resource for the internet. Perhaps it is an Rpc issue and will show up later

Maybe stop using @steemit's stake to vote for witnesses? Or removing 22.8888?

Over the past years I've heard the keyword "mainstream adoption" a lot, but a key requirement for that has always been missing from Steem: What Steem needs desperately is a solution for easy sign up and login like conventional social media offer. Private keys are great for crypto-enthusiasts, but not for the daily use by average users, especially not for those who don't use a password manager.

The solution I propose is a much more advanced version of Steemconnect, similar to what I developed for @travelfeed, but a bit more advanced and with a public API:

  • A centralised service operated by a trustworthy party such as Steemit Inc. would provide an oauth API for dApps like steemit.com to implement.
  • Users could register/login to this service with email+password (and optional 2fa) or social logins (Google/Facebook/..).
  • Users would be required to link their Steem account by giving posting authority to this service once (automatically for newly created accounts, one-time transaction requiring the active key for existing accounts).
  • Similar to how Steemconnect operates, after a user logs in, a token is passed to the dApp that can be used by the app to broadcast transactions to the service on behalf of the user. The service broadcasts them to the blockchain using the posting authority.
  • Now users could login to any Steem dApp supporting this login option with the login method they previously set up (email+password or social logins). No private posting key needed!
  • Private keys would only be required for transaction requiring non-posting permissions, such as transfers or witness voting.
  • In case the service was compromised, funds would be safu since the posting authority can only sign a limited number of transaction types such as posts/comments, votes and custom_json's.
  • For new users, this service would also offer sign-ups. By requiring additional profile information from social logins, verification would be done instantly for trustworthy users and they would instantly receive a free Steem account linked to their social login(s). They would still be required to store their keys securely, but they would not need the posting key when logging in to apps through this service. If the trustworthiness of a user cannot be verified automatically or the user chooses to not provide additional profile information, there would be a wait time as it is currently.

The option to use private keys without granting posting-authority for full control should still remain for crypto enthusiasts.

Thank you for this detailed and very helpful suggestion.

This is an area we are currently working on so we will pass this on to the development team.

The Steemit Team

Unfreezing the accounts of community witnesses would be a great initiative. Not censoring people would also be good. Meanwhile certain accounts are spamming with huge self votes and nobody cares.

I'm sad to see Steem go this way.

I agree with @steevc on this. It was both actions which led to me powering down when I wanted to support both chains. I'm not alone doing so.

I had 3 of my posts censored and it wasn't "to protect steemians from FUD and SPAM". I am the leader of @informationwar which is a project that has been on Steem for a really long time. A project that is AGAINST censorship.

By censoring me and my fellow Information Warriors you are censoring the truth. You have no idea what you are talking about shill.

Considering you are tron's paid shill I would say you aren't over 160cm tall, yellow and disgusting.

Yep I know, I took a picture of you the other day..

Most of the current witnesses rely on the blessing of Justin to stay in the top 20. Having principles is not tolerated. Free speech is not tolerated either. Doesn't that make you sad?

I've got a few...

  • Ditch the censorship lists (one of Steem's main selling points was being censorship-free)
  • Release control of the witnesses (this is now a centralized database, not a blockchain)
  • Stop freezing people's funds
  • Stop wasting your time with BS posts like this, and focus on running a node that works, so people can actually transact

Those seem like a good starting point.

Hey Kenny! I still have lot’s of hope for the future of Steem. Which is why I agree with you that 22.888 needs reversed ASAP and censorship is not good for anybody, more so for a Steem since it drives people away. We have our work cut out for us. But we plan to do what it takes. Also please take note, everyone is welcome to attend The New Steem witness forum and state their concerns and ideas on how to move forward. I hope to see you there, I value your input and wisdom that you bring to block chain.

You couldn't make it two weeks without running out of ideas?

Dear @pfunk

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not. I assume that you're experienced enough with building brand/presence on social media, that building communication channels with community is very important. And allowing communities to share their ideas (plus picking on some of them) is WHAT WE NEED.

Unfortunatelly people behind HIVE (as much as I respect many of them), old witnesses and most so called "whales" never seem to care about ideas of us - small users. It's nice to see a difference.

Yours, Piotr

Hello Piotr,

I am really glad you did your poll, and I understand what you are looking for. I hope you will manage to see too what Justin Sun is hiding; the kind of things they do now are easier to do because it's one person in charge, and they did that by abuse of the system. The whole idea of DPoS is have no one in charge of everything.

I think short term you might enjoy what is happening now, maybe even forever. But for true further development, the current direction of Steemit is basically as valuable as TRON: it gives you the idea of decentralization, but you don't get the real deal. Most importantly, step out of line and you are toast.

You have to understand that neither whales nor witnesses are leaders in any traditional sense. Whales are people with a lot of stakes in the platform, trying to bring it forward, and witnesses are the people who make the technology run. What you do on top of the platform is really anyone's game, and anyone is fully free to work on that.

If the nodes don't work consistently then nothing else really matters. Transactions are failing frequently and projects are feeling forced to leave because of that. You need to make the blockchain itself work before you start worrying about adding things.

What's the point of making a blockchain work when it's been rendered pointless as a blockchain?

Day 13 of the 100 days of Steem's funeral should be a contest to name Steem's new consensus model.

I've come up with two already:

Proof of Hypocrisy
Proof of Manchild

100% upvotes for good consensus model replies to this comment

Proof of vindictiveness

I thought Steem was supposed to be a platform for adults?

My suggestion is to fire you and bring in a real professional to run the 100 days of Steem.

These Junior High level challenges only bring low quality content to the platform.

If you want Steem to be shitpost central, you've got that covered.

How about some grown up challenges? Please...

Let me tell you what this is: a way to drown the old posts about Hive so they could remove the locked posts on the home page and increase the illusion that they are the good guys that don't censor.

I'm still on the 'Let's move away from the Junior High level games" topic.

It's time to stop picking the winners and losers, because you control the biggest stake.

It's time to grow up and let the Community pick the winners and losers, like in truly Decentralized Blockchains.

Step up like a big boy and earn respect, rather than trying to buy your friends.

This "my daddy's stronger or richer than your daddy" crap will never fly with a crowd that actually has the money to invest.

Make Splinterlands feel more comfortable about staying on the Steem block chain A.S.A.P Having SL "ON-CHAIN" adds a lot of value and use case to Steem. They are the biggest and best run crypto game out there atm.

What specifically should be done to make Splinterlands feel more comfortable about staying on Steem?

Thank you

The Steemit Team

I will post a longer response to this soon. I am in contact with the founders now.

We will look out for that, thank you.

Solid proposal. I support it fully.

I would like to see a reorganisation of the "communities" according to content criteria.
For example the most popular communities are #GEMS, #OCD, #CN... But what do they tell me? They tell me that more or less "big" curators look around and vote. Nothing more, all contents are mixed up in an unsorted way, many languages are next to each other (Does someone translate the contents before voting?). To someone who doesn't know Steemit, these communities don't say anything, he won't find what he is looking for, what he is interested in.
We have specified hashtags like #music, #sports, #developing, #games, #travel... but it's not easy to find them since the front page shows the most popular "communities", no themes.
Best regards,
Chriddi

These are very good ideas @chriddi, thank you.

We are currently doing more work on Communities so we look to incorporate these days.

A new signup page? The current steemit signup page is outdated since some of the paid registration providers have moved to hive. Our team @cn-witnesses has created a new signup page for new users, you can find it here: https://signup.steem.buzz/

Here is the source code: https://github.com/steem-driver/steem-signup

Thanks for this - very useful indeed.

This is definitely something we are working on.

The Steemit Team

I believe that the true path is the empowerment of the communities, that the effective communities are supported with delegations for real life projects. Development, social marketing, educational models, community projects, all the efforts made will be in vain if it continues to be given Back in a bubble of few people, the success of a platform is made by people, usability, loyalty and teamwork. The challenges are not bad, but it is not the root of the problem, if we want to be successful, let us stop placing hot water cloths as continuous improvement when what is needed is a re-engineering in use, and better use of resources.

Darlenys

Can you give some specific ideas or examples of how you would see these ideas being implemented?

Will the Community Curators Project help with this?

Thank you

The Steemit Team

Of course @steemcurator01, I will try to blog in detail about my perceptions and ideas, and leave a link ...

Darlenys

That will be great, thank you.

I actually very much agree with you @darlenys01

It's all about empowering existing communities.

Thanks for your comment @crypto.piotr, really that is the way.

Darlenys

Thanks Steemit Team for asking feedback from us users, it's good way to move forward.

I would like to suggest to empower Community Leaders who are dedicated and still actively supporting content creators here in Steem through SP delegation.

They are the ones who has the time, energy, and motivation to support and grow the user base of a community. I believe empowering the communities will make steem great again. I would like to suggest the following communities:

Photocircle
Project Hope
World of Xpilar
SCT
Travelfeed
Qurator

Thank you for your ideas and thank you for mentioning us

We are hoping the Community Curators project will help with this.

Thank you

The Steemit Team

I would like the witnesses to have the opportunity to introduce themselves. Sure they can do that as well, but if you do it with content and the attention it gets, it will bring a lot of benefits. The witnesses are so important and if you ask around in the community there is a lot to catch up on. Through this content the barriers could also become smaller and the witnesses could move closer to the community.

Best regards Michael

Remember when the witnesses were part of the community? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Good suggestion, thank you.

@greenhouseradio have started a weekly Steem Witness Forum where the witnesses can introduce themselves and discuss current topics with the community...

Wonderfull this is great!

Best regards Michael

Promoting cohesion within the community
Smaller virtual meeting places should be created and held regularly. No matter if it is a meeting of artists or a meeting for the exchange of vegan recipes.

We now run the "Wirtshaus" every Sunday where people talk about everything, listen to music (YT videos) and have a lot of fun together.

https://steemit.com/deutsch/@das-wirtshaus/2-oster-stammtisch-im-wirtshaus-sonntag-der-19-04-ab-19-uhr-hier-unter-diesen-beitrag

For such events, it would be nice if Steemit inc. would provide the operators with an account that would allow the guests to vote. Be it for a contribution or a comment or just for participating. We are talking about a few cent votes. But this way a lot of people participate and are active. It is enough if the account is made available for 8 hours.

We would be happy if we would be available every Sunday for the German speaking community.

Virtual meetings are definitely a good idea. Not sure how you see the accounts operating? Can you give more detail please.

Thank you

The Steemit Team

Hello @steemcurator01

I'm glad you like the idea. The use of a Steemit account requires trust. For example, I would have to be allowed to use the Postinkey for 8 hours to cast a vote. You can make out in advance that we will not lower VP from the account by more than 20-30%.

Our programmer @platuro who has programmed many small dapps for Steem, and is currently working on the dPublisher extended update can certainly program something suitable.
An app where you can enter that a Steemit inc. account follows another account and the same votet. Also comments what would be important here. Similar to the App SteamAuto but unfortunately no comments vote.

If you are interested, such an app can be programmed especially for Steemit inc. But that would take some time.

Maybe one day there will be the possibility that we get a larger amount of money delegated. It would then not only be used for curation but also for such purposes. We would also waive the curation fee of 50% and automatically transfer it back to the Steemit inc. account. So Steemit inc. would not even have expenses. As payment for our work we would give a 100% vote to our curators account every day and Steemit inc. would receive the 50% curation. So I think I would all be satisfied :)

It will light the way.

Thanks for the Mention :)

Here are my opening thoughts/suggestions
https://steemit.com/steemit/@kiwiscanfly/100-days-of-steem-suggestion-s

Great ideas in the post - especially re SPUD.

Thank you

I have an idea for the 100days of steem, run a competition asking Steemians to write 10 facts about themselves but inlcude 1 lie - challenge others to pick which one is lie - good way to get to know fellow steemians

@steemcurator01

https://steemit.com/tenfactsonelie/@kiwiscanfly/ten-facts-one-lie-can-you-pick-the-lie

Thank you for this idea. Will put it on our list.

The Steemit Team

Steem should make out efforts to sponsor and support real-life projects. I suggest steem sponsoring academic research which will then take steem into academic libraries and the would be a corporate way of introducing steem to the world. I would love to make a full post on this.

That doesn't sound like small issue. It actually does look like long-term thing ...

Interesting idea - but not sure how that could be actioned in the short term, or how it could be sustainable.

If you would like to make a more detailed post about the idea we would be interested to read it. Maybe include some of the 'economics' of you would see it working.

Thank you

The Steemit Team

@qurator is good, but the tokens are really expensive in my opinion. Maybe they really are that valuable?

it's worthy more than now :) 💙

We have the Community Curators Project that will do some of this?

The Steemit Team

커뮤니티에 이벤트 보다 더 활력을~!

more activating the community thru with the events 💙

Continue to ask for feedback (both good and bad). Learn from the constructive answers and improve the user experience. Fix the voting system that requires more than 1000 SP to even register a vote. Lower the cooldown time frame so people are free to come and go. Continue to punish abusers of the system, that's the biggest thing the old management failed to do and it cost them with new users dearly.

I personally would love to see Steem take off and become what it could be. I saw many great people that came through the system that got disenfranchised by the way they were treated by the power at the top. I'm giving you guys a chance and hopefully you figure it out!!! :)

Thank you for these comments Dave.

All these points are being looked at - but they may not be quick fixes, and will likely need a hard fork to change.

The Steemit Team

Great initiative, it is good to see that the community is taken into account and consulted to develop these ideas.

Here I leave my proposals.

https://steemit.com/hive-175254/@fucho80/100-days-of-steem-day-12-these-are-my-flying-ideas

Thank you for the very useful post.

More than rewards, quality creators need audiences.

To support that need, pick a category to monitor on Twitter (maybe Twitter/#steemexclusive?). Announce that you'll be monitoring it. Then use the steemit (105k followers) and/or steemnetwork (10k followers) Twitter accounts to retweet and provide off-chain visibility to a few quality posts each day and also to drive eyeballs onto the Steem blockchain.

Those follower counts are good assets, and it's a shame to leave them idle.

Maybe also curate those posts, but that may be secondary.

Thank you for the idea. Definitely one we will consider.

The next important thing to improve the ecosystem, it is to make sure the abusers of the reward pool need to be removed and spread it to the quality contents instead.

Can you give some more specifics of how you would see this working?

What specifically would be your criteria to determining which abuser accounts would need to be removed?

Thank you

The Steemit Team

I would make sure the abuser cannot post anymore or upvote with the account after an official warning.

Any behavior that is obvious of someone milking the reward pool like this as an example.

  • Post 10 times a day.
  • Self upvote and do circle jerking with the same accounts or big accounts.
  • Not engage and does not respond.

In the real world, we don't get free money, even here this rule needs to be applied.

Fully agree with you @chesatochi

I think STINC should build some tools, which would allow to report repetitive abusers. And those accounts should be banned from delegating their SP and upvoting.

Tapering the delegation for new users might help with user retention.
Last I looked, a new user received a 15 SP delegation. This delegation decreases as they gain SP. If a user has 6 SP, the delegation drops to 9 SP.

The result of this is that new users do not start seeing the benefits of new SP until after they earned 15 SP.

A tapered delegation reduces the delegation by a fraction of the STEEM POWER earned. If the taper was 1/2 the system would reduce the delegation of an account with 6 SP by 3. So the account would have 6 + 12 delegation which equals 18.

Using a tapered delegation would help help new users understand how the power of their account is determined by the SP in their account. It might increase user retention and might spur new users to buy STEEM.

Interesting point, thank you.

Organize a farming day! Many old farmers are back in action like haejin. There are also none left to stop them!

We should do this to get as much Steem as we can and get the hell out.

Steem needs a way to find all rewards received throughout the tax year for reporting taxes. Now that Steemdb is gone where does one find this information? Having a way to get this information easier than steemdb would be great. Example If I could get all my reward information from January 1,2020 to January 1,2021 . Kind of like a 1099 this kind of tool would really help people to do more on the platform because keeping track of the income would no longer be a hassle. I personally know several people who have stopped using Steem because finding the information to prepare their taxes is no easy task .

Quisling. Crypto is our money, not government's. The entire point is that it exists outside their control.

  ·  5 years ago (edited)

Man, I forgot the term quisling. Perfectly describes all of the greedy, cynical, hangers-on to Steem.

quis·ling
/ˈkwizliNG/

noun: quisling; plural noun: quislings

a traitor who collaborates with an enemy force occupying their country.

  ·  5 years ago Reveal Comment

It seems like the tool would need to scan the block database for a user's "claim rewards" transactions in a given time period, and then spit that information out in a convenient human-readable format. Would that be sufficient? I'm currently in the process of learning how to use the steem APIs by working on a project that scans the block database for certain transactions, so if I can get it working properly I might be able to adapt it to this (no promises, though, it's still a work in progress).

Hello @danmaruschak If you could make it like the steemdb was would be helpful here is a link to the Hive -db
https://hive-db.com/@danmaruschak/curation
I do not know who made these but the steemdb no longer keeps track of the steem rewards . It would be nice if the steemdb still worked
And thank you for realizing how important this information is to the growth of the steem blockchain .

Hi @razorwave8

Don't you pay taxes the moment you trade your crypto into FIAT? You mind sharing with me which country are you from? Based on my knowledge, majority countries require paying taxes the moment one is trading it to FIAT currency.

Yours, Piotr

@crypto.piotr I live in the USA and here in the USA the bloging rewards are considered income regardless of weather or not the rewards have been traded to FIAT . Here is an example if I receive 100 steem power for curating today and the steem price today is 0.15 cents then I would have to report $15.00 for today's income and I file my taxes one time a year and make quartly payments to the IRS and State . Therefor I must create a balance sheet to post my rewards and price of steem everyday in order to keep track of the rewards so I can report my earnings as income.
With steemdb I was able to collect the rewards information fairly easily and collect all my reward information one time a year .
Also If you hold on to the steem then you must show the amount and price so you can show what the steem cost you to use against the price and amount when you sell it to FIAT.
Here is an example of holding and not selling the day you receive the rewards

  1. Receive rewards 100 steem @ $0.15 = $15 This is considered income sold or held for later sell
  2. If held for later sell my cost for the 100 steem is $15.00 and I now own 100 steem
  3. I then decide to sell the 100 Steem into FIAT 3 months later @ $0.41 for $41.00
  4. Steem Sell = $41.00 Steem cost = $15.00 for a trading profit of $26.00
  5. $15 income is subject to social security tax because it is taxed as income and the $26.00 trading is taxed as investment income

Thank you for this.

There are new tools coming from community developers that might be able to help with this.

@steemitblog another good idea is to send weekly newsletters to the emails of our users. I dont know if you already do it but the last time Steemit send a newsletter some of the older members came back and start posting again.

Its very important now that everyone is inside to be reminded that Steem still exists and is a good way to earn a bit by posting at our platform:)

We are hoping to resume the newsletters / mailouts again shortly.

Thank you for the reminder!

The Steemit Team

Thank you for the ideas.

Serious suggestion (I'll even write a post about it as suggested):

How about an engagement day where you will give an earnest response to all comments left on your post for that day...even critical responses. You may consider this a trap, but you could stand to gain a lot, but only if you answer in a respectful and honorable manner.

An official app for android and Apple that is made by stermitinc, it seems to me that it is necessary and mandatory, and can even include several additional features such as choosing front ends and things like that. This idea is very important and necessary.

This is something we are looking at. Thank you for your contribution.

The Steemit Team

I have some great idea for these 100days post will be out soon.

Until that the Hindi translation for Indian community is ready have a look that :-https://steemit.com/steemit/@sumit10698/100-steem-12

Thank you.

  1. Run Ads. Use ad revenue to run Steemit Inc and don't sell any Steem.
  2. Hire me
  3. Less Censorship @penguinpablo should probably be uncensored as an example.
  4. Other stuff

Your ideas is what any fly would love to sit on.

Idea: A writing prompt (challenge) to explain the full significance of all of the objects currently in you pockets.

There's plenty of time left for more announcements and I'm sure some things require more work than others but there's a couple of things previously mentioned as essential that are still missing:

  1. removing downvotes
  2. shortening the power down period substantially

Yeah, why does Steem still have downvotes?

Those with Steemit delegation can use them to hide dissent. I'm not using mine any more even for shitposts like this one :)

@rmach I agree removing downvotes and shortening the power down period substantially need to be done . I would stop my powerdown and power back up If I were able to powerdown in a few weeks instead of 13 weeks . Also need tool to find rewards easily for whole year to prepare taxes .

I wonder @rmach, why would you like to remove downvotes?

Please let me understand your reasons.

No particular reason. I'm just curious because removing downvotes was presented as fundamental to move on to this new era in steem. Witnesses were strongly in favor, so I guess it's happening some day.

Maybe some competent people will have to write some code for them to copy and paste first.

Most likely :)

Thank you for this. These sorts of changes will need a hardfork.

I would like a day for introducing or re-introducing projects. Ask for a post with all the up-to-date fresh information about steem projects, so you and the community can see all the good projects there're in a glance.

Good idea! We will look to try this soon.

Thank you

The Steemit Team

here's the link of my post for ideas and suggestions from the 100 day steem project. hopefully can be useful.
https://steemit.com/hive-122035/@aulia1993/let-s-re-introduce-steem-platform

Thank you for your ideas.

You're welcome

I was thinking why don't we tighten up the rules on the Steemit platform to reduce the number of fake accounts. So far, those new users are no longer visible in the introductory tag like we were here earlier. I think this is very helpful in reducing the use of fake accounts on the platform, and that is one of the reasons they will feel at home here. Fake accounts are very annoying, and this requires cooperation to minimize their presence on the smallest possible platform. Of course this will give a positive point to steemit, new users are certainly very helpful, especially in each posting my self-introduction gets curated and of course becomes a motivation for those who are trying to join this platform.

This is a post that I have translated in Indonesian, hopefully it can help the steem team to continue working at its maximum in 100 days of this steem

Verifying new accounts is something we are working on at present.

Thank you

Here’s my idea for the 100 Days of Steem. Do Ask Steemit posts, similar to Ask Reddit questions. This would increase engagement and participation. I’ve included some potential questions in my post.
https://steemit.com/hive-148441/@nextgen622/ask-steemit-suggestion-for-the-100-days-of-steem

Thank you for the idea.

My idea is to support communities left in steem. I even wrote a content about that to make you understand what I feel. I've been on steem almost 3 years and I can see a lot of things happening here. Little communities are struggling and they need support.

Here is the post I wrote about the situation : Ideas to improve what's left !

Communities are very important.

We are hoping the Community Curators Project will help with this.

Previously, I gave full appreciation to the entire Steemit and @steemitblog team.
This is an extraordinary program, I also want to give an idea at a critical time.
yes, at this time the dark for millions of people in the world to remember the corona virus continues to spread and cause many deaths. As a result, a number of cities and even countries blockaded their territories and so many people were forced to isolate themselves at home.

Independent isolation by staying indoors will prevent the spread of new corona virus outbreaks. However, what if you are healthy and feel bored if you continue to practice social distancing?

I think it is worth entering into the STEEM 100-day agenda to hear their opinions about: "Stay at home".
From here I am sure many of them will come up with extraordinary ideas

We may use that for one our weekly Writing Challenges.

Thank you.

Dear @steemitblog

Excellent. We've resteemed it and shared within our PH community.

Love to see how active you are right now to bring some live to Steemit in those difficult times. You guys are doing great job.

Yours
@project.hope team

Thank you for your support. There is still a long way to go but we are doing our best!

You need to delegate chunks of SP to community leaders and have them use that to grow their communities, though there does need to be a check on it to make sure they are not abusing their SP. But, if you had 10 or more communities set up with these tools, it would certainly help. Plus you need to get rid of free downvotes, downvotes are fine, but they should cost something.

Once you have communities set up with community leaders and chunks of SP, you need to do some form of marketing to bring in outside users. Reaching out to influencers on other platforms would be a good way to bring their users over here, but you will have to pay them, probably in more than just upvotes.

And you need to bring back advertising and use that money to buy up steem on the open market. It sounds like a waste but doing things like that that will go a long ways in making steem more sustainable which will in turn help keep people here and encourage them to hold on to their steem. If everyone thinks it is dying or won't last, they are sellers of everything they earn on here, and like it or not the currency is the life blood of the this entire ecosystem.

On that note, you need to take steps to get the price going up. Get steem on more exchanges. A higher steem price makes everything easier. One of the easiest ways to get a higher steem price is first get a higher SBD price. Start running up the SBD price and the price of steem will follow suit and the numbers of users on steem/steemit will skyrocket again. That is when the ad revenue starts going up and can be used to support/buy steem or SBD off the open markets and burn it, which will further which will further supportgher prices and make this whole thing more sustainable.

If you are against using ad revenue to buy back steem/sbd, you could also distribute it out to blog owners. That would be a great way to help encourage people to come here. They can earn based on how how many views their content gets and not just by upvotes like it is now. That would do wonders in terms of attracting quality content producers.

There are ways to make this work, but it needs some pretty heavy actions to be implemented and soon.

There are ways to make this work, but it needs some pretty heavy actions to be implemented and soon.

TLDR

  1. Delegate SP to communities
  2. Pay influencers to bring their followings to steem
  3. Use advertising money to buy steem and sbd making things more sustainable
  4. A higher SBD price pulls up steem prices hint hint hint
  5. If against using ad revenue to buy sbd/steem pay it out to bloggers
  6. Get steem listed on more exchanges

Thank you for your input. Some good ideas we will take a look at.

We have already set up the Community Curators project to help build communities.

Thank you for this.

I think what we can do is to ask all big communities to host 1 Idea per day for their subscribers, like GEMS for arts and paints, TravelFeed for tavelling. In that way every community will get a chance to work on the idea.

Whereas few ideas are like, My First International Travel, My Makeup Kit, What makes you happy everyday morning

Thank you for the idea.

Steem Witness Challenge

  • Who you are?
  • What is your job?
  • Projects within Steem Blockchain?

Good idea, thank you.

I'd like to see some new code published by steemit inc. How about an open source tool that can be used to fight all the milking happening on this chain?

Some community members are already working on this. Check out @steemchiller's recent post for example.

Thank you to @greenhouseradio for hosting the first of a new series of Steem Witness Forums yesterday.

LOL. I'm very interested to know if it was just the @jayplayco talking in different voices.

No. It was not ,lol. We are real life individuals.

I was referring to the witnesses and how many are single individuals running multiple top 20 nodes.

Ahhh, lol. Got ya. Many want to change that.

We are very much real, and have been Steeming for some time now. Thanks for the mention!

Hello @steemitblog @steemcurator01 team, I have a suggestion, I use dlease.io service to rent SP from other users so my upvote value is better and I can speed up my own steem power too. I suggest Steemit Inc rent out the unused SP to steem users like me at 3-5% APR or any range that you deem reasonable to help us with our upvote value and speed up our own steem power. Also with a condtion that SP only use for upvote, not downvote. Thank you in advance for your attention and consideration.

Thank you for your ideas.

Mi sugerencia sería que los que usamos Steem no deberíamos de estar comentando luego en Discord o buscando información cuando eso debería estar reflejado es en el mismo blockchain.

Can you give any more details on this please?

It is definitely better if more is put on the Steemit than on Discord.

Sure, it should be.

How about changing the name of the company from Steemit, Inc to something else? STINC just doesn't sound right.

No, it's pretty spot-on nowadays.

My idea // Mi idea

Dreaming is free.
I wish a Steemit world where a bridge would be built for all who start. A team dedicated to giving them mentoring comments, encouraging votes, pleasant conversations, and emotional first aid so needed right now by humanity.
Go to the new steemian, look for him and give him guidance, a ground to step on, help him.
Every new steemians we help grow will be the steemians that will grow and strengthen the steem blockchain. Some geniuses of the present were little babies who did not even understand how to publish a photograph.
As I said ** Dreaming is free **
Thank you.

Spanish.

Gracias.

Thank you for this very good idea. Definitely something we will look at.

Thanks for your comment

I have penned down all the my suggestions here in this post:
https://steemit.com/the100daysofsteem/@sapwood/it-is-a-perfect-storm-to-make-deep-rooted-reforms-in-steem-to-make-it-great-yet-again-a-steemian-s-resolve

Alongside, I would like to suggest that we need to bring down the steep learning curve and barrier to entry, which right now the new comers are facing a bit of difficulty.

The real problem is they are not sure that they will be curated or not like others. Somehow most of the people joining believe that it takes a lot of time to start getting upvotes from the whales.

Steemit Inc can take this initiative with the available resources and can assure that, if you are good content creator or somehow bring value and engagement to Steem, we are there to curate you.

If some of the highly subscribed, big communities have migrated to other place and have no serious intention to remain here, let's re-organize and re-engineer the communities.

Thank you for your thoughts and ideas.

We are hoping the new Community Curators Project will help with this. And we are currently looking at another possible plan to help as well.

Keep tuning in to the 100 Days of Steem.

I would say that a mobile application that works is really needed. It is really complicated to stay active and posting while on the move from a cell phone with the Steemit interface (or the Steempeak interface), so I would really want to see a mobile app like the previous eSteem or Partiko here on the chain!

Definitely something we are looking at. Thank you for your contribution.

My suggestion is simple and I've been proposing it several times.

Instead of a 50 - 50% system for author and curator, I would introduce Autor 50% - Curator 25% - Affiliate 25% in three depths ( 8.33% - 8.33% - 8.33%). I would introduce a reward for referrals for bringing new users to Steemit. This would give mass marketing and a chance for all those who are not real bloggers to be able to succeed by promoting and bringing in new users.

This is how we gain marketing power, we have the power of attraction that those who don't have the money to invest in Steem Power can bring in other users who will become investors, and the users themselves will earn the rewards from the posts.

We win together
Steem On

Thank you for the idea.

Referrals would be useful, but doing it through the rewards system would likely need a hard fork which would take a long time.

Maybe there might be some easier way to do it...

You are welcome
This is a question for developers.

Daily writing limit should be introduced. Must be a maximum of 5.

There used to be a diminishing author reward for any posts above 4 per day. It discouraged spam. They forked it out a long time ago. Spam ballooned.

Thank you for the suggestion.
