Steemitlegacy - rather than suggest it. I have just done it. Re-steem me, please. Read and you will understand.steemCreated with Sketch.

In many shapes and forms I have been suggesting that we have a steemit.com legacy account.

The idea was re-invigorated by this challenge: "what would you do with 1 million Steem if you had to give it all away": Original Post by @nepd to which I replied with my post.

Realising that I was talking and not DOING (one of my bugbears), I have just done it.

This should be used for those in need both within the steemit community and outside it.

Build it and they will come.

I have now opened the account @steemitlegacy
There is 30 Steem and 30 SP in there.
Just a start.

Is there anybody out there who would like to join this initiative?
We need the best advice in:
Curation, account strategy, post authorship, etc.

We also need a Committee to decide upon the protocols of account self-sustainability and Allocation of Funds.

By way of transparency of motive, I am quite happy to not be involved - or to be involved. Consensus is what matters here. Things like the holding of keys can be worked out easily enough. Account movements can be published etc.

Donations to this account can be made publicly or privately

Let's make a difference.

Your first contribution - PLEASE - is to vote, follow and most importantly, RESTEEM!

Interesting! Will this become some new guild? reading curation etc?

No, it will have influence though if we can scale it to a size of meaning.
It is designed to be a resource which demonstrates the community. There is a lot of steem price watching and excessive concern over all things steemit. Meanwhile, there is a real life out there which sometimes leaves people in a bad place - this is simply a resource to be built and operated to remedy those bad situations as best we can.
I hope that you will find a way for you to express yourself through this account.

Nice to see you again ! Very interesting !

I'm not sure if I understand all you are saying. It gives me the feeling that what the account will do, is not determined at all, and work in progress. Is that my correct understanding?

I would like to think with you guys what this account can be. Not sure if I can actively contribute tot he account like some of us are doing with guilds, that takes a lot of time. But yeh, I can try and work with you guys to determine what and how we can make something of this account.

Yes, @edje, it is very much a work in progress and thank you for your search for a bigger explanation. It is by default a work in progress for the very important reason that "it is not mine". Yes, I have put a few shekels in there to start it off. My hope is that there will be others who can see the future benefits of this.
Unfortunately, it seems already that the community is a little, shall we say, 'lukewarm' abou the idea of giving.
More views than votes is always a sign. I know very well where this springs from and it is a sad reflection.
The very simple motive here is to have a facility which can bring relief to those who need it when they need it. I am aware personally of about 5 very dire situations which fellow steemians have faced. The ability for the community to be able to DO something, rather than say nice words would be a good thing, in my opinion.
Examples of which I am aware: Mental illness causing potential homelessness, water cut off by authorities to a home, PSD, homelessness, etc - there is more.
Of course, people do not publish these things as a general rule.
Not only should people behave like this but it is a very positive aspect of the community to show to the world - we should be looking outwards too - as I mentioned in the post, an outward looking steemit is a healthier steemit.
I hope you agree and see the ethos behind a start - but also a blank sheet of paper. It is not mine. It is ours.

Thank you for the explanation. Helps to put things a little in perspective.

Examples of which I am aware: Mental illness causing potential homelessness, water cut off by authorities to a home, PSD, homelessness, etc - there is more.

These are real life issues. If the idea is to try to tackle these in one or the other, we may need to look for some accountholders who can give something other than funds, maybe some support in healthcare area, therapist, psychologist or something. At least some specialist in that area. Funds are then also required. We could think of something like giving, or micro loans even. Seen before some Steemians in need for some funds, and some other Steemians providing this. If we take such approach, I think we are in untested waters here within the community, but would be a very good initiative and could also support marketing of Steemit. The challenge is then, how to get this type of support?

What do you think?

Interestingly, when we do this in The Netherlands, I would think of Red Cross and other organsiation to try and bring them onboard, maybe with their own Steemit account. With the upcoming community features, such organisations could work in a public community model. But we do not have those features yet. Also I think it'll be difficult to convince these type of organisation in my hometown to support individuals anywhere in the world since their focus would be local in geography.

Wow! So great to read your thoughts.
Interesting that you brought up The Red Cross. My Grandmother ran the British Red Cross for many years - just an aside - but she was a hell of a woman!
Yes, with your comments about the care being not just financial - you are absolutely right - my own version is to teach fishing and supply a fishing rod, rather than supply fish. Invariably, it is listening which is the catalyst to averting a relapse.
Each of those situations are, in fact, absolutely true. They are all a reality being faced right now.
Turning a blind eye to such things is not my gig, and dare I say it, not yours either.
My desire is to ensure that the foundations, design, values and delivery of this account are of the steemit community. If it is me - it becomes an @ebryans thing - it needs to be a steemit thing of which the community can be proud.
You know what would be very helpful to the concept is if you were to write a post, outlining how you see it being a worthwhile cause. You clearly have an affinity with it but I would like to get people engaged - at their level - what do they care about - how would they like to see such an account managed and handled. Would they contribute if they thought it had the attributes they would look for?
What are your thought s about that?
Thank you again. It means a lot that you have thought about this as you have
All the best to you

Way to get things rolling! Excited to see this develop.

You should be a part of it - it was you who reignited the thought! My concern: 7 views and 4 votes of which 2 are mine (self-vote post and me)! Is steemit capable ... I do hope so!

Highly rEsteemed! Thank you for the contribution.

Very kind indeed sir! Thank you.
I do hope that the community of steemit is not overly engrossed in their account value - it reminds me of the chatterers in London gloating over rising house prices. Then they lost their jobs ... oh dear!
Best to you.

Interesting indeed - tell me a bit more about this, what you plan with it exactly?

Hey there @uwelang, I simply wrote a post in response to the question: "If you were given 1 million steem but you had to give it all away, to whom would you give it?" I wrote in my response to the question that I would set up an account which would be able to support steemians .. and non-steemians who REALLY need help.
So, I then thought to myself that I loathe talking which is vacuous - as the Nike Ad goes: Just do It!
So I did. I started this account with a little steem and I would like others to assist in its design and protocols.
If it has my paw prints all over it, it will be seen as mine. That is hardly the point. It has to belong to the community of steemit.com.
I shall be seeking options on posts to donate a % of revenue to the account. I shall be inviting guest writers to contribute a piece, a song, a poem.
We need a advisors on account strategy etc.
We need a committee to allocate resources to causes - etc etc
These are just my thoughts - I want to hear other thoughts and passions.
I hope that fills in a few blanks.
Please do let me know if there are others!
Best to you.

Thanks mate - so in a nutshell a kind of unofficial steemhelp account
