Idanha Nova is between Lisbon and Madrid, the municipality is very well located in the middle of two capitals of Portugal and Spain.
Its historical origins are not known with precision, but it is thought that the construction of its castle was carried out in the year 1187 by Gualdim Paes, master of the order of the Temple. In 1206, D. Sancho I, gives it the title of town and to distinguish it from the old Idanha-a-Velha (Egypt), called it Idanha-a-Nova.
In July 2020 the magnificent Boom Festival will be held again to celebrate art, freedom and nature on the shores of the Idanha-a-nova reservoir.
