Whether you have your own business, website or are just using Steemit for fun, the username you chose is important. If you are here for things unrelated to business that is fine but it is important that you are consistent in your naming conventions across all of your social media networks.

As an individual Steemit user it will help grow your network and earnings as you post your Steemit blogs on your other social media accounts.

What? You're not doing that?

Well, if you aren't then you are leaving money on the table.

It is no longer worth your time to build out glorious posts on Facebook or pop your pics onto Instagram. Building out a quality post on Steemit has value to both you, and to the community. We want you to flourish here and quality is very important.

Once you post to Steemit, share the link on your Facebook page, Twitter, instagram, Pinterest, etc. If you have created something great chances are that your followers on other networks will want to see more. This is how you expose new people to Steemit. They will begin to ask questions about it once they see your earnings and they will want to join.

There is no better way to cultivate your own earnings than by helping people you already know get involved in steemit. And, this will help us all.

But why is your username so important?

Well go on over to Google and search the username you have chosen for Steemit. You will notice that your Steemit account appears right there in Google search. It is because the root domain of Steemit.com has enormous authority and value. That means when someone searches your username, they will find it in Google.

If you are consistent with your naming conventions you are actually branding yourself. Your instagram followers who know your username will search that in Google if they want to find out more about you or follow you on other networks. The same is true for your other networks so make sure that anyone who is looking for you will find out that you are on Steemit.

It may sound like a very simple concept but it is very important for branding. Next we will show you why Branding your business name is even more important than branding yourself on Steemit. Stay tuned.

Wow! I definitely didn't realize Steemit was ranking like that already on Google. Thanks for alerting me to that! So awesome.

I looked up my username and it was at the top of google! It's good to know.

was right, thank you.

Thanks @steemmarketing, I totally agree. I know it's important to Brand yourself and that includes your name i.e Username here at Steemit. I know some like to use creative nicknames ... so of them are pretty bizarre. That tends to Brand your name on a Steemit level ( which is fine) but for me personally I chose my Name. Personally, it just seems more Brandable on "macro" level ; on Steemit and outside Steemit as well.

I also believe the title of the post is crucial to be index properly.
