Failed takeover attempt: The social media network Facebook has failed, according to press reports with a billion dollar takeover bid for the young blogging service Steemit Inc.
A look at the user growth figures shows that Steemit has more users in 3 months than Facebook in the early days and for Facebook Inc. important number of user engagements is many times higher than on Facebook or other social media platforms.
This takeover may seem absurd for a network of 100,000 users, but it seems to be a bargain if the prices paid for Whatsapp are $ 19 billion or the rejected offer for Snapchat 22 billion. US $ for comparison.
The founders of Steemit Inc. Dan Larimer and Ned Scott and the Supervisory Board of Steemit Inc. have rejected the offer.
Great news. Classic photo as well haha

Is this true? I cant find any confirmation online. It would suck if FB bought Steemit, but I'm also worried if Steemit gets too big it could collapse or morph into something like FB .. do we really retain rights to our posts because they are locked in a blockchain? Somehow I doubt it.

This article does a pretty good job of explaining how the blockchain is decentralized and presents a new model for social networks .. and Steemit seems to be at the forefront of that ..
