Since the new version of steemit there is now a lot of confusion amongst users on upvoting of content and impact on their voting power. @markrmorrisjr describes the new situation in his post Dude Where's Our Votes?
Upvotes are key for this platform to thrive and grow since it will attract authors and curators alike.
My idea is to overcome the upvoting confusion through “real” time information.
I would suggest to put additional information below the vote slider or if not possible to display a popup window after the vote was made.
The picture above is only one example. The reward now could be 0.000 SP for users with lower steem power and the threshold for them much higher to receive the first amount of steem. The Post Payout threshold for such user could show a higher value like 500 as an example. The system would calculate the individual threshold for each curator.
To sum up the idea:
Based on the percentage set on the vote slider the user would see immediately the real impact. This way curators will get used to the new voting system much faster.
Additionally, new curators can see at what payout threshold of the post according to their voting power and vote slider percentage setting they are likely to receive a curation reward.
If you like my idea please resteem.

I've only just recently earned my slider, but I'm a minnow and give the posts I upvote 100% anyway.
Here's something that I've discovered and I don't think it's coincidence. While your upvotes will decrease your voting power, COMMENTS actually offset it.
I just tested it. I posted a comment to another blog. Prior to posting my vote power (on Steemd) was 94.1618% after the comment it went up to 94.3214%
This should encourage users to really engage in the community and comment more, instead of swinging by with a quick upvote for curation purposes only.

Thanks; I am one of those who are still trying to understand this system better :)

Regardless of when I get the slider or not, i will vote 40 times with 100% power until I have so many followers I cannot do it anymore. My thought is if we support those who support us, we all win. I do agree with @merek99, comment as often as you feel the urge, it does seem to mitigate the loss of power.
