I want Steemit to dominate.

in steemit •  7 years ago

I've been on Steemit for a little over a week now. I like it better than WordPress. This community is more active and more personable to me. It reminds me of my early days of live broadcasting.

Authenticity:

A common notion that seems to be highly desired by social media is authenticity. There's a lot of fake stuff out there. I don't approach Steemit that way, and I don't want to approach any other social media platform that way.

Authenticity is easier.

I'm grateful for my live broadcast experience. It has taught me the value of authenticity. I've been in a band for over 10 years. Sensitivity to the blurred lines between superficiality and authenticity is part of my life.

We must do our best to refrain from indulging in judgment.

Best we not forget to hate the game and not the player.

Best we not forget that everyone must pay rent and put food on the table somehow.

Bots and Upvote Dictators:

The #steemit team must find you necessary for some reason. I trust they won't let it go too far because I'm probably not the first person to be discouraged by those capable of flagging/down vote and bots. (I'm not even sure what to call them... You know, those accounts that use other fake accounts to give themselves an unnatural amount of Steem power?) Anyway, it's a very slick exploit and I'm sure if it were easy for the rest of us we would indulge also. Nonetheless, I won't let it discourage my activities. Hopefully I'll earn their respect. If not, I'll just make it part of my new realistic expectations for this social media platform.

Yes, the challenge will be realistic expectations. I thought this would be a get-rich-quick social media platform, but it's not. Just like most aspects of life, this takes work to make it prolific.

Summary:

I will strive onward with the genuine precedence established by my previous content.

I will continue to be that guy who makes GIF like videos.

I will continue to be that guy that posts pictures of upside down steel drums.

I will continue to be that guy who notifies steemit neighbors of my fun Periscope broadcast.

I will occasionally be that guy that talks about his discography on Bandcamp.

I will also occasionally speak about the fun steel drum band I perform with because we provide music that makes people very happy.

Authenticity has been my goal.
