That's the difference between extracative practices and those people that are interested in building the community and platform. In other words, I am in total agreement.

Yeah everyone who extracts back to fiat is sucking energy from crypto

I wonder if they have done the maths on that?

Well their strategy would only work if they had a LOT of steempower. In which case colluding would get them a lot of money.

I suppose it's similar to some of the steemit cliques on the slack channel, who do the same thing unofficially.

thats the right attitude, have fun and join the movement.
everything else is a bonus

well said. They should not give new potential users a wrong picture...

That is so true sorry only few cents from me but I do like your post and have no other way of showing.

I value your comment :)

huh, surprisingly, this guy also seems to be a plagiarist. He posted a copy/paste of a @dollarvigilante article without giving credit. His other posts also seem to be pagiarism.

Yep! there's really no way of gaming the Steemit system. Folks simply need to focus much more on what they are putting out here regarding purposeful higher quality posts. As well as focusing on providing others insightful commentary that's relevant to what was actually posted. Doing such is the key to any online networking platform or portal as it shows that we the members truly care. Anything done by members opposing such isn't wise. Hopefully they will learn.

Great sound advice Steevc I'm glad I'm following you. You always have something good to say and useful to put out here. Nice post voted up.

Hahaha! Not even sure if they gonna make 10 cents @steevc! Those taking steemit to be a platform to get rich are completely wrong!
These people will last for a couple of days and disappear for sure!
Cheers

Great basis for a Ponzi scheme tho :) Join my upvote circle, just invest £10 and you will get paid back...

So true. Find people of similar interest and just keep posting great content. Have fun and, if you get some bucks, bonus 😁😁

more worrying to me are people like this guy @dang007 who have bought up a lot of steem power and is now self-voting himself a payday that he thinks he deserves because he's an "investor". I've never flagged anyone on here yet, but I came close when I saw this guy.

We can't do much about self-voting unless enough people decide to counter their votes. He's getting support from others anyway.

I know but it still makes me grrr

Well... it's pretty fun here, so whatever.

You couldn't be more right here @steevc. There's definitely a right way and a wrong way to progress on this platform but sadly most simple just don't get it, for the reasons you've explained very well. The ones that will succeed here will enjoy there journey along the way, make it fun and keep coming back no matter what. It's so much more about the relationships and connections made. Thanks for sharing this and Steem on!

It might be possible to do this if a group of people that all had steem power worked together. Five people with 10k SP each could vote each other up to $5 per post... not a ton, but if they re-post old internet memes 5 times a day each, that could add up a little.

But to make the numbers really work, like $50 per post, they'd need 100k each.. by then you could generate serious Steem, but that's a lot of money needed upfront. I wouldn't be surprised if some of that goes on since it might make financial sense, but of course I hope people aren't doing it that way.

If you have that much then you may be better off self-voting, but I wouldn't encourage that behaviour. I just minnows can get on the right path and stick with us

I have been trying to invest in the platform with my currency as well as with my content. I think both are necessary for the growth of the platform overall, as well as my own growth on Steemit, which I do want. Still, it has been a very slow process, and I have been posting what I think is quality work that takes a chunk of time to produce, but gains are minimal.

Yeah it takes a while to get a footing, and right now it's getting a little tougher with so many new users vying for a piece of the rewards pie. Unfortunately it's probably going to keep getting tougher, is the truth, but I think right now it's not too late to build a good audience and make some decent cash.

I agree, a lot of people i think are just trying to make a quick buck @steevc

Steemit is fun! Forget about the price tag.

Self-voting, I have been in favor since the person invested, maybe someone who got votes to get where it arrived would be a little unfair to vote for himself, because here one depends on the other. But I do not condemn this act. The choice of what to do is for every Steemians. People are free to do what they want, but the actions of that platform have downvote-like consequences.

It is a personal choice. Those who want Steemit to grow need to decide on whether to help others get going. There may be more to be made later

hahah beginners mistake !!

Yeah I realized after enough time of my own that thinking about rewards is just a quick way to get frustrated.

I have tried to accept the low rewards at this level. Still, I think I could handle the low rewards if there were more views on the content I put out. I put out stuff that only gets one or two views at times, and that is also frustrating.

Mostly you just have to seek out and engage with other people whose content you enjoy. Make conversation, make friends, get followed.

Very useful post with creative article thank you so much @steevc sharing your valuble knowledge and ideas with all steemians...great work...keep it up...GOD BLESS YOU.
