Great work spreading the word about what is happening.... behind the scenes so to speak. I’ve been working with SFR for a little while and man there is an absolute TON of comment spam, vote farming, plagiarizers, and copy and pasters. You don’t really have an idea of how bad it is until you get in and look.

It's a full time job to try and keep up with it and then it's frustrating if you can't do much. We need to build the community of spam and abuse fighters. That's why I wrote this.

Heck yes we do!! Lets get some more recruits and clean this place up.

This time it was a happy ending :) And great they also just cooperated.. But I am really currious how plagiarism will hold in the future, because a lot of people do tend it is easy writing ;) At the school of my oldest they screen reports trough a 'plagiarism machine' to avoid easy grades. That's a pitty but it is necessary...

We have bots like Cheetah to check for this. They could become more important in future.

There are some sophisticated plagiarism going around and those are time consuming to prove.

I'm really hoping this guy will continue to be on Steemit and be a good participant.

I think some put it through a translation app so it's harder to match up. We should report anything we spot.

It's a dirty job but somebody has got to do it lol

They are mostly going after smaller cases as they just don't have the SP to tackly larger fish

From this statement it seems it's the smaller accounts that are being penalized often for committed offenses since the bigger fishes have the SP to liberate themselves. I think more awareness should be created on what's acceptable and what's not on steemit so minnows can be able to thread cautiously since na only Dem una power reach to punish.

I wouldn’t say they are being penalized... more like they have been caught in the early stages before their scamming and spamming has paid out any significant amount. Stopping them before they get high SP is the key.

We need some more whales to help out so the bots can have more impact. For now they risk retaliation. I hope this will improve.

Do you think the whales will help out since some of them may be guilty of some of the offenses those guys are trying to curb? Anyway, let's hope they will help so that the platform can be sustainable

It depends on whether they want to play the long game or take a quick profit. There are some good whales.

I think it is hard for people to know what is acceptable and what is not when they first start using Steemit. That being said, plagiarism is pretty obviously not acceptable. I think the problem is a lot of people start on Steemit, they go to the trending area and see all the crap that is posted there and they immediately think they can get away with anything.

Trending sets a bad example. It's got little to do with what the community likes

For sure! It's too bad it takes most new users a while to figure that out though.

We have to appreciate that a lot of people will come here with no idea of what is acceptable and they may just get hammered with flags.
So, his case was actually a misunderstanding and was happily solved. But plagiarism itself is wrong in every sense. No one that consciously plagiarizes is inocent.

I know some cultures have a more lax attitude to intellectual property. In many places pirated music and movies are openly sold. The important thing here is that we try to ensure the real creators get rewarded

I would like to request you another thing which is BOT bidding upvoting system...It gives exposure to only those rich peoples with shit content..And the minnows with good content doesn't get any highlight.
P.S. I also experimented a little with bid bots...But I don't want it to make my posts come into trending sections.
Hope you will look into the matter.
Thanks.

Just avoid the trending page. 90% are buying tickets to their own concert.

I flag some posts that bought votes when I think they are over-rewarded. I've heard you don't make much that way, but it can gain you followers. I don't look at trending much as it's mostly junk IMHO.

I have seen many posts having dumb contents in trending section earning a huge money using bidbots.

Well it's up to the whales whether they stay there. Some of those whales are the ones selling the votes, so they probably don't want to upset each other

Why don't you do that? You can also make a huge amount of money.

Do what? Buy votes or sell them? I'm not interested. I'll give my votes for free to good content.

Yes you are a good person...Not greedy...And an activist of steemit..I haven't seen you doing things like selling upvotes ...That's why I asked..Don't mind please.

In this case, things ended well, but it is not always the case, we must continue to detect plagiarism so that the community can feel safe when publishing an article.

Plagiarism is something serious in steemit, we must continue working to eliminate this problem. Fortunately there are teams of specialized jobs to detect this, like you. They have my support
