As one of the most staunch critics of the state of the Steemit trending page, I can officially announce that today I felt that the top spots were actually trending!
And no, I didn't write this to get on trending.......that doesn't matter too much to me personally anymore. I am concerned with the trending page in its state of reflecting actual trending pages.
This is a huge day for Steemit! (And no, I'm not talking about the abrupt price spike, either)
I'll be honest, I have not been happy with the trending pages, even when I was on them daily. It seemed to make zero sense usually, as the Steem Guild took over and maintained a false trend. I do think we are moving in the right direction finally, and I was so happy to see a post by @the-future with such huge engagement get to the top! Also, it was refreshing to once again see a post by @cryptoctopus and a new user make it too.
I'm not sure if I'm the only one who's feeling a new lease on Steemit life, but these are good signs. My main question is, 'when will the experiment be over? Does it have to be over if it is working? The breath of fresh air, due to the whales abstaining from voting is perhaps the best thing to happen. Hats off to @abit and @smooth for making this occur. I'm 1000% behind this new experience!
What I'd give to know which whale initially bought like 1,000,000 Steem yesterday...........
Maybe I need to start a Where is Waldoesque comic titled, Where Is Dan?
I hope the experience will follow in the next hard fork. Trust has returned, it should not be lost.

I get downvotes too, but I really don't care at all! The trending page needs to actually be TRENDING!!!! That is really the most important thing....and people now are able to give money with their upvotes! This is huge, and it has been my main gripe all along.........maybe there's a chance.....

And I love your post. I tend to think the trending page of Steem has been killing for the most part for some time now. And I need to mention, I watch digg.com, mashable.com, youtube trending page, reddit.com, r/worldnews, r/technology, r/futurology, r/science and many other every day.
