Promoting #Steemit on Twitter
Stitching #Steemit and Twitter together
I just wanted to share with you a few tweets that I have made this morning that I guess speak for themselves.
Social Media Raping
I apologise if I have offended anyone by using the term "Social Media Raping", but sadly this is exactly what is happening.
Sometimes you have to shock people into realising what is really going on, in order to get the message across.
Comparing Facebook to #Steemit actually disrespects #Steemit as #Steemit is a far superior environment to be in.
Why would you want to give up and share all their thoughts, wishes, desires & dreams for FREE, purely to line the pockets of Shareholders that will then use this information against you.
It makes absolutely no sense at all.
#Steemit is a Social Media Lifestyle
Regular readers of my Blog will know that for the past 6 months I have been out on the streets handing out Flyers, T-Shirts, Caps, Mugs, Pens and Business Cards along with the rest of the #promo-uk Team and as a result I personally have spoken to well over +500 students.
Selling the concept of #Steemit to a total stranger is no easy task and I am sure that all the guys on the #promo-uk Team will tell you that there is no one generic way of doing it.
Over the last 6 months I have learnt to understand that the best way to sell #Steemit is that it is Social Media Lifestyle.
By selling #Steemit as a Social Media Lifestyle Choice as appose to the Blogging Tool that pays, paints a completely different picture when talking to a stranger.
Currently the #promo-uk Team is taking #Steemit around the Country on a University Tour and this tour will provide us with some vital information as to what students are telling us about their Social Media experiences.
By having this vital Marketing Data at our fingertips will allow us to plan the next stage of our promoting campaign.
While we continue to gather this data, I just wanted to once again say a MASSIVE thank you to the #promo-uk Team for all their hard work, determination, dedication and creativity they have given, as they tirelessly put in the effort for the U.K University Tour.
Big shout out to the #promo-uk Team....

I know right? I mean how long will it take for them to wake up and stop using Facebook?

So with you on this one. Me and the mrs just finished having this conversation only seconds ago, and say something to the same effect every time one of us is forced to use Facebook for some reason - mostly being connected to poor saps still using it. Not only is all you say above true, but it is also something of a moral and ideological cess-pool. The difference between Steemit and Facebook is comparable to the difference between drinking clean fresh mountain spring water and water from those London sewers - complete with 'fatburgs'.

"....but it is also something of a moral and ideological cess-pool."..!! I thought this bit of your comment was the best, until I read "...is comparable to the difference between drinking clean fresh mountain spring water and water from those London sewers."..!! I could not agree any more. Thanks for comment and contribution to the Blog. Stephen

I am proud to say i have never used facebook, just never signed up to it which is some achievement considering the cult of facebook shun anyone that does not "join them" and countless friends offered to make a page for me, i told them all to sod off, oh well they are happy with their new acquired "friends" and feeding their imaginary farm animals. I am loving steemit tho ;)

you are right about FB of course but I never really was a big fan anyway and hardly use my account and havent posted on it in over a year...
BUT the question is what would happen if those big shareholders take some of their FB dollars and move over to steem and take over the platform... a couple of million is not that much to them but could drastically change steemit and the way things work
imagine the marketeers taking over the trending topics and start censoring because they have the big bucks at their disposal...
someone I follow (@tarazkp) wrote a really thoughtfull article about this and he does have a good point
Lets not grow to fast, lets mature Steemit, not explode it

Youtube never fails to surprise me in its downward slide. In 2013 I was making $400 a month. Four years later and with 12x the amount of quality videos, I'm still making around $400 a month. At least they don't have a 7-day voting window, however I'm extremely disappointed in Youtube.
Not sure if Steemit is the solution for video content that takes 100+ hours to produce, but I'm glad there's an exodus from Youtube.
I suppose one way for video producers to fund larger scale projects is to post each stage of the project to Steemit and get a chance for exposure and upvotes.
Thanks for sharing!

Keep up with the "shock and awe" campaign to free the masses from the abuse they willingly participate in on those other "unsocial" media sites.

"... "unsocial" media sites."..!! I could not agree more. Social Media Sites have turned into a cesspit of abusive, manipulated, distorted corruption of lies and deceit on an imaginable scale. They are all a pile of festering garbage. It is simply a matter of which pile of festering garbage is the least. For me #Steemit is a breathe of fresh air to Social Media. Thanks for the contribution comment to the Blog. Stephen

Not thought of it like this. But a better way of 'managing expectations' for new joiners.

My only opposition is that on Facebook any engagement I have with my posts are genuine.
I post debate-provoking content about the gaming industry on my website, and since I've never been able to get eyes to it naturally, I always shared my content on Reddit. Unfortunately, it's a toxic pit and the majority of people accused me of starting a riot, so, in an attempt to get substantial input from like-minded individuals, I thought I'd join SteemIt.
Now, I've only been on here for a month, and I get fewer views on my posts now than I would if I would be posting on Reddit. But so far my venture has been a failure. At least when I posted on Reddit, I knew the comments were by passionate gamers adding their voice to a conversation - even if it was harsh - I knew it was genuine.
On here, the only replies I get are shallow "thanks for posting your content, here's an upvote." I came to Steemit because I thought posting on a site like this would enable me to get genuine thought-provoking comments on my pieces, but instead people are only motivated by money - copying and pasting their comments on every post they see.
At this point, I'd be getting better engagement on Facebook. Maybe my content sucks, maybe I'm doing it wrong, but at least on other sites it was sincerely valued - even if it was only by a handful of people.
