We all know about 401ks and IRAs. We grind our jobs, faithfully putting away x amount each paycheck so that we can retire and have enough money to live out our golden years in financial comfort.
Historically speaking, getting a return of 8-10% on out retirement fund is considered good. Anything above 10% is exceptional. We live in an exciting time right now. Bitcoin, Ethereum, STEEM and many other alt coins are relatively new and can offer astronomical returns. If you are reading this, you are light years ahead of most of the world . We are basically at the infancy of a new global currency. The train is about to leave, the time to get on board is now if you haven't already.
Prior to learning and getting into cryptocurrency, I just blindly contributed 10% to my 401k. While not a bad strategy, it is definitely not optimal. After a lot of research and calculation, I have come up with a new plan.
- Put just enough into your 401k so that you can get the maximum match from your employer. In my case, they match 50% up to 6%. I will not get into how to diversify your portfolio
- With money the money left over, put it into an IRA or Roth IRA
- Keep a little aside to invest in crypto, even if it is less than $100, every little bit counts and could result in exponential returns. I've heard daytrading disaster stories with crypto, much more common than the success stories. I plan to just buy and hold for the long term.
Do your research. There are a lot of new currencies with different technology, uses, and risk. My personal favorites right now are bitcoin, ETH, DGB, SC and obviously STEEM.
STEEM shows the most promise. What other social media outlet pays the users for being a part of the community? NONE.
Cheers to a great community and a promising future
