In The Beginning
The Crypto-Currency story begins back in 2009 with the mining of the first Bitcoin Block. That Bitcoin block, known as the Genesis Block released the first 50 Bitcoins into the Bitcoin Network. It’s funny to think that back then, “the network” probably only consisted of between 1 and maybe 5 or so other Bitcoin miners/users.
Fast forward to 2013 when the Island Nation of Cyprus had a banking crisis, propelling Bitcoin onto the World Stage. What was only months prior selling for $10 - $25 dollars had now skyrocketed to above $200 per Bitcoin. Later that year Bitcoin topped at around $1240, higher than the price of Gold. The price didn’t hold for long, and eventually the price bottomed out again near the $200s.
For the last several years the price of Bitcoin has been stabilizing more and more with less and less volatility. It has recently climbed out of the $200 dollar range and settled near the $600 range and stayed there for quite a while. Bitcoin hit the doldrums for a while. Its price has meandered up and down but mostly the price has gone side ways. Bitcoin has gained more users and spawned a whole new industry in FinTech. Bitcoin’s Blockchain technology is now Wallstreet and Fintech’s “New Darling.” But Bitcoin itself is not as exciting or innovative as it once seemed. The Blockchain part of the Bitcoin system is now the news maker, and not the Bitcoins themselves.
Believe and Ye Shall Live
I leave beliefs and faiths to religion. For me, seeing is believing. I see reddit.com with around 40 Million user accounts (all gaining Karma points) and around 1 Billion Facebook users (all gaining Zuckerberg Points, just kidding no such thing).
People throughout the ages have had the need for self expression, be it through art, dance, writing or any other expressive forms. The Reddits and Facebooks of today have made this easier for the everyday user. So much so that they have literally gained Millions and Billions of users/followers.This is something that Bitcoin has truly lacked.
I have been a bitcoin miner and enthusiast since 2013. I can actually say that one of my miners found a Bitcoin Block. I am proud of that, and excited to be a member of the crypto-currency movement. But unfortunately, some of the excitement of Bitcoin has worn off. Most people haven’t heard of Bitcoin, and if they have they know very little about, and more troubling is that they show apathy or disdain for it. “It’s too complicated, you can’t buy anything with it and I don’t trust it” are a few of the negative responses I usually get along with the occasional blank stare.
In STEEMIT We Trust
It’s now 2016 and there is a buzz in the Bitcoin world. Unfortunately it had nothing to do with a “killer app” or new use for Bitcoin. If anything, the news was that there was going to be less Bitcoin to go around, The Halving was coming. The price of Bitcoin had risen in anticipation of The Halving.
At around the same time, in the quiet corners of the Internet, there was a new Idea about to come to fruition in the form of a whole new Crypto-Economy; STEEMIT.COM. The white paper for the idea behind the crypto-currency STEEM, STEEM POWER and STEEM DOLLARS was released in March and sometime in April 2016 the steemit.com website was up and running. On July 4, 2016 steemit.com made it first official payout, and steemit.com was now on the World Stage.
There was a media frenzy in regards to steemit.com and its disruptive and transformative new idea of spreading the wealth to the content creators through a new crypto-currency to be rewarded for community participation.
The Rise of STEEM
Steemit.com currently has about 48,000 user accounts and its current Market Cap ranks in the top 5 at around $213 Million Dollars (US). It has its own internal market where you can buy or sell your own Steem or Steem Dollars. There are independent exchanges where you can buy, sell or trade Steem or Steem Dollars. There are even some retailers that are now accepting Steem and Steem Dollars.
But more importantly, steemit.com has a platform that addresses the human need for self expression, lowers the technical barriers to entry, and ultimately compensates the content creators and community participants via its own crypto-currency. This is what Bitcoin has been waiting for, this is Bitcoin’s Savior. Something that the masses will take to. Reddit and Facebook have shown that the user base is there. Now Steemit will introduce millions to crypto-currency that many have heard about but never really used. Steemit has built a Crypto-Economy and now they will come.
The most recent and famous person to join steemit.com was Jeff Berwick of the Dollar Vigilante @dollarvigiliante followed by a Playboy Model with over 1 Million Instagram Followers, @brendazambrano . These “Youtube Famous” and “Instagram Famous” celebrities have begun the transition over to steemit.com. As more Social Media celebrities dive into STEEM, the masses will shortly follow, it is only a matter of time now before the Rise of STEEM will be complete and the New World of Crypto-Currency will never be the same.
Full $TEEM Ahead!

Many folks have and still will find Steemit because of Jeff Berwick - he will attract many anarchists and folks that are tired of statism.
When people discuss the Mt. Gox or now Bitfinex situation I find it always interesting that the biggest daylight robbery in recent history from about 8 years ago is not even mentioned or remembered - $22 trillion according to the government faction of the robbers themselves: http://www.gao.gov/products/GAO-13-180
So we shall see where this blockchain social experiment leads ;-)

Yes, @steemuwe there is plenty of room for growth on STEEMIT. An unfortunate but true, the government tends to "sweep things under the rug" when it comes to their questionable actions. And I say it's all an experiment, even fiat currency. Bitcoin Blockchain has died many many times according to the news media and yet it is still here. Yes there will be bumps in the road for blockchain tech. but cryptocurrencies and the tech. they foster are here to stay.

So called government and the respective theatre around the so called elections have exposed themselves the latest since a George Bush junior has been allowed to steer the affairs of the most dangerously equipped organisation in recent history.
There is no lack of supply in material that exposes the central bank federal system for what it is. I don't need to elaborate.
What the media does or doesn't say is irrelevant to those that seek the real substance.
Distributed blockchain tech has a tremendeous chance at something that many have already given up on. Let's not waste time nor energy and explore if we can make the unthinkable possible ;-) Imagine a world without extortion on any level. It might be utopian to many - but so was big metal tubes flying high in the air not too long ago ;-)

Reddit has evolved into an epic dumpster fire. Every month there is another clamp down on content the admins find distasteful and there is another mass exodus to other platforms. They've even gone so far as to tweak the algorithm to keep popular content the admins don't like off r/all.

Thanks @blakemiles84 I had this in my head for a bit. Actually for about a month or so, when I first heard about STEEMIT, and once I learned about some of its inner workings this realization creeped in. Again, thanks for the support.

Thanks @tomkirkham And I think the addition of those two social media famous celebs. will turn some heads undoubtedly. I am seeing more users that were very active on other platforms testing the waters here. I have some friends that have thousands of followers on instagram but they have yet to see the light. I think having been involved in Bitcoin has given most of us here an early movers advantage.

@jamesart63 I only really have one answer. Other might reply differently. But all I know is how to work. I have collected cans and cardboard when I was young. My dad had me selling freshly made tortillas and cheese at an even younger age like 5 and 6 yrs. old. I got my first paying job at 15 at a Mcdonalds. I worked Summers. I bought My harley Big Twin chopper at 18yrs with my own earned money. And on and on til today. I still have multiple jobs and hats to wear.
Here on steemit you just need to up vote, comment and post.
