Private messaging for Steemit in future - Possible ?

in steemit •  8 years ago

I was wondering if in the future it would be possible to introduce private messaging too at Steemit. This I believe would make it a complete social media platform and will attract a larger userbase very quickly.

Have been trying to figure out the advantages and disadvantages that Steemit possesses from other social networks. Private messaging is one of the big disadvantages because of which many are shying away from joining Steemit as all posts and comments made on this platform have to be mandatory public.

Thoughts ?

being able to control who sees a post would also be nice. It may not fit into steems blogging for profit system, but private posts are heavily by the facebookers i know.

I was thinking of it too, someday steemit could have private messaging. Do you like to have a private messaging too?

I think it would be beneficial for sure

Hi @sudipn749,

I would love to see that happen but it is not very likely that they will implement it any time soon.

To have the ability of private messaging is a huge investment. You need a server with all the data stored there, because you can not put all those stuff onto the blockchain.

It can be implemented into Steemit but what about the people using other platforms? Like eSteem or Busy.org for example.

As I see, Steem is too complex and there is many tools out there used to interact with the blockchain to have a universal solution.
