The world is changing on a vast scale right before our eyes. It's such a small ripple, that will lead to such a big change however so we can't really fathom the magnitude of what's starting to formulate at this moment in time.
I'm sure you know about "Bitcoin" and the frenzy it caused. In essence, a $100 investment in Bitcoin 5-7 years ago would net you about $4 million present day. Amazing stuff. Bitcoin just monetary exchange however. It doesn't actually add much value to the market of the world, say like a Facebook/Twitter/Instagram does -- for entertainment purposes, knowledge, information, the sharing of ideas, etc.
Now imagine, bridging Bitcoin's economic sanctity and usage with a platform that creates content and value for it's users. And voila, you have www.SteemIt.com. My friend told me about SteemIt recently. I'm going to create some content on there and see what sort of value i can build and create for myself, both monetarily, as well as promotionally (for my music) whilst learning and curating for others. It seems like a win-win opportunity.
..Where it can potentially go in just 5-15 years from now.... especially because it's providing a platform for content like Facebook/twitter/etc. Bitcoin is just a crypto-currency. SteemIT is an actual platform based on content creation and the exchange of ideas/knowledge/information. Bitcoin broke the valves of doubt, providing the way for a facebook that can create monetary profit for it's content users ~ thus, SteemIt. SteemIt is a store-holder of wealth in that sense i suppose. Bitcoin is just an effective medium of exchange. Interesting stuff. The economic market is changing right before our eyes. It may take another 100 or 500 years, but this is the beginning of something which has hit the mass consciousness of awareness. Like how Elon Musk is all about free energy, the economic system too will evolve inevitably. Crypto-currency is becoming the secure and intangible form of what Gold's tangible value has served for the financial institutions over the many centuries. With that said, i watched a few interviews on Bill Gates, Elon musk, Jack Ma, etc all speaking on bitcoin. they under-stated it's solidity/staying power. Maybe because they doubt such crypto-currency can penetrate the government banks and international economic systems. "He who owns gold, owns money!" i mean... enough said there. Lest the governmental people can get a piece of ownership in these new currencies, they're going to setup legislation and blockades against it's usage. Bitcoin is good for both legal and illegal activities value-exchange. the legal framework is what makes it's value valuable. If bitcoin wasn't legal, it would be ethereal. .....And steemit is a 2-birds with one-stone, because you're actually able to network and build community on the Steemit platform.. so this adds to one's stratagem for marketability and attention. Where attention goes, the dollars follow....... Steemit is building a pretty solid community based on what facebook/twitter/reddit/blogs/vlogs have all been built upon -- the sharing of content. Yet, you're actually building and encouraging the building of community through curation (upvotes) and consistent content creation, Whilst provingly making a profit based on such community building and usage. This means, it's expanding by itself naturally. and it also means it's proven itself valuable and trustworthy to would-be newbies. Thus, it's going to grow at a fast pace i feel. Especially thanks to Bitcoin now having broken the valves of doubt as far as how valuable crypto-currency can really become/reach. The ceiling is high, the people's attentions have been awoken, and change is the only constant. Let's put some Steem On It
