Good day@surfyogi. I am so happy you are doing this.

I and some other Steemians are the brains behind the @abuja-steem seminar coming up on the 17th of February, 2018.

Our plan is to educate people on how to navigate the platform so that they can make great relationship and get rewards and well.

We want to teach these people how to remove themselves from the shackles of poverty using the internet instead of just wasting time on other social media platforms.

We really need help in getting a hall and refreshments for the guests. We are behind schedule for payments.

I cant support my fellow steemians through huge votes as I don’t have any !! 😛 But i try my best to help people in the way I can !!

I have put many people on autovote who put good quality content, who put efforts and time in their posts and specifically those people whose content can ACTUALLY benefit the society !!

Yes there are many people struggling here but I feel the ones who really deserve to strive through are those , whise content is WORTH IT !! which can change the world into a better place because that’s what I write about !!

I write to help people open thei mind and look at things from a different perspective, become better human beings and upgrade themselves into a better version of themselves!

Not just through my content, I also help people on steemit by telling them how can they improve their articles and not focus only on money but so many other benefits that steemit provides you like giving a chance to improve yourself, make amazing friends, and so much more :)

Steemit has given me so much , that I can put my career into it (because it is my career right now !!) For a suggestion for build A community, I would say that we should find people whose content is required by the world, whose writeups can help people and support them !!

Steemit has already affected many lives (including mine). It is the beauty of the blockchain.

I'm lost for words at the moment, what you are describing here is exactly what my community @promo-mentors is doing. I started 3 months ago with this community. Initially it was to help retain users for the #promo-steem movement. I don't know if you are familiar with promo-steem but it is a growing movement of steemit promoters with as goal to get steemit to the masses. @steem-ambassador is the main account and I am the moderator of Discord group (https://discord.gg/qSkE2aY).

Both @steem-ambassador and @promo-mentors are close to be launched. And when it happens I am confident the adoptation of Steemit will sky rocket. #promo-steem started out with a dozen promoters, which now has grown over 200 active promoters blogging on this tag.

#Promo-Steem is run by @starkerz, @stephenkendal and @anarchotech while I run @promo-mentors. Promo-mentors is a community of new and experienced Steemians that has grown to 550 members in 3 months. Daily I work with a team of 15 mentors (6 are from @curie including me) to guide Steemians in their blogging. We are in direct contact with them and we teach them the basic stuff of blogging (no plagarism and how to construct their blogs in a neat way). But what is more important to us is that to teach them how to add value to steemit, that there is more than blogging.

My dream for @promo-mentors is that it will encourage many people to start their own projects that add value to the people in Steemit but also outside Steemit.

Indeed Promo-mentors are doing a lot in guiding and mentoring a lot of new Steemit users.

My idea is to in the medium term start to promote steemit in places that need it here in Venezuela, like a little school that is attached to a church here in my city and they provide free studies and housing to the kids, this place is called Don Bosco. The project has been in my mind for a few weeks but I have not started it yet.

I think it would be good for this people to start sharing their day to day activities here in steemit, the place is very pretty and I am sure the community will love to see how is the life in that institution. Depending on how the experience is with this place, I could start attending other similar places eventually, and teaching them how to use and promote their activities on steemit.

I have seen some posts with teachers promoting steemit to their students, and I believe an upgrade from this will be to involve the ACTUAL school activities and of course sharing them here so they can start to participate that way. I am sure people here will love seeing how are the day to day activities in some schools that need support.

As you might know, in Venezuela we have the worst economic crisis of our history, and I believe crypto can be literally a LIFE SAVER for my community. I have been 2 months on steemit and I see my live with a totally different perspective now. Thanks to steemit I am can see myself achieving important goals in my live, that would not be possible if it weren't thanks to crypto.

And because of this, I feel I have the responsibility of one way or another, toshare this knowledge so other people can also take this opportunity.

Thank you for your work helping steemit grow, I am also putting all my time here, trying to find success in steemit, and to help build positives communities , because in the end, if steemit succeeds or not, it would be because of its community. Its up to us if this place reaches its full potential or not. So I am putting my BEST in making this happen.

As a final note, I am not a curator, because my SP is kind of low (but its growing :D), but I also try to help users that need support by being an scouter for the @promo-mentors discord group, in there we have curators from @OCD and @Curie and mentors that give support to users that need it. Thank you @surfyogi, am a ground soldier for helping change life within and beyond the wall of Steemit. I have two strategy I have developed to help achieve this.

Within the Steemit community, I know the value of users understanding how the platform really works so I created a Whatsapp group where I invite experience Steemit users to come lecture new members on how to plant their feet here on Steemit. Also organizing contest to reward good content creators.

I am a utopian.io open source project promoter on social media like Facebook. Currently, I have promoted about 6 platforms on the Steem blockchain on my Facebook page and I hope to reach 10000 people by the end of this week.

For the community beyond the walls of Steemit, I understand that the poorest among us might not have access to the internet, so I volunteer as a ground soldier for projects like @damarth one meal a day campaign. Where I dedicate all I earn from the campaign in ensuring that the meals actually do gets to those who truly needs it.

Hello @surfyogi. I am a member of promo-steem and the founder is @futurethinker. It all started with the group of promoters, bringing in more people into steemit. We work with the #promo-steem movement to promote Steemit. @steem-ambassador is the main account for promo-steem they handle the promotion, we are here for the user retention. [At the moment we are counting 525 members.]

And then we realized that bringing people to steemit is not only the main thing but making them active too. So futurethinker added the mentorship part where new and even old steemians are being mentored about steemit generally and most importantly how to write a good article. Then he added the scout section where there are people who are looking out for new steemians who are on steemit already to bring them in and help them out too so that they can be more active and also write good post.

We have encouragement boost section, where we encourage posts that attended the feedback sessions of mentors by giving them little upvote from the community account (@promo-mentors). We also have curie and ocd curators in the community. They try to look into community member's post if any of it is qualified for the upvote. We are trying to make even promising authors to stay on steemit.

The community is already contributing to increase the value of the steem blockchain and with your support, we are going to do more.

I also believe that STEEM can change the lives for many on this planet. This is only the beginning. Imagine if the price of STEEM was 20$ or even more. All the apps like D.tube seem to be doing fantastic as well, which is good for this STEEM blockchain as a whole!
I agree that writing daily is great for personal development. Although it could start feeling like a chore and become less fun after a while. I think it's important to take a few days off from writing when you're on a long streak.
If you're looking for fun ways to write, you can try the 20 minute challenge. I've done it a couple of times so far and it's a very nice change from the regular writing...

There is so many good and creative souls I met here. I've already made a few of steem dollars, and I don't plan to cash it out any time soon. I convert it into steem power of this community, because I feel that it is well worth it.
To me steemit is a sanctuary of free thought and real life. A place where you can just blog about what you have going on in life and complete strangers wish you well and root you on. You can talk about things that are important to you and others from around the world can comment and share experiences.

For me, the aspect I am contributing to steem is bringing people to steemit (promoting steem).

So far I have got a few people into to steem and I am glad about. I believe that the more people you bring to steemit will help the value of steem more.

Where I will be glad if you can help is in the area of delegation of steem power, so that I can support them to stay for the community.

When I started posting on Steemit, it was all about the votes and cash. After all, that IS why I was here. I have never had a Facebook account and generally do not participate in other social media.

Over time, however, I started to genuinely appreciate the kindness and positive energy of the Steemit community as well as all of the encouragement out there for quality content. I started to care more about my posts and started searching for what I had that I could bring to the table.

This past week, after receiving an encouraging upvote from the @Curie group on a post about art, I decided to stick with the theme and an interesting thing happened. I love writing my posts. It is fun now AND I am learning a tonne and am interested in what I am writing about. The votes have become secondary to my own enjoyment.

Which I am taking as a sign that I'm doing something right. Hopefully, other people also enjoy them and maybe learn a little bit.

I'd like to start with the @promo-mentors community.
This one is a project lead by @futurethinker which caters newbie and veteran steemians on the platform.
It's main goal is to improve the experience of steemians here and retain the members by creating a small community of diverse people across the globe that is willing to help and provide feedback on their post.

One of the most awesome feats of the @promo-mentors are we have some folks that are connected with Curie and OCD which provide workshop sessions to the members in that way they will know the ropes on blogging and stuff. From poetry to science articles we have mentors that can help them improve plus a hang-out place where they can mingle with other people too.

I do support the project of @steemitfamilyph I am one of the members there too and I saw how each one of the folks got transformed and inspired on the projects and mentorship that is ongoing.

We are a small group of bloggers for now but the impact that we are doing is awesome. It does matter because with the support that we are able to give to the newbies we make them stay on this community. Our community vote doesn't weigh that much right now just a few cents but the bonding and camaraderie that it gives to all folks in here is solid. We are also inclusive to all folks that are willing to be helped. We are here to help retain folks which can help the steem community by delivering quality works.

I really think community is the number one important thing in Steemit and I am amazed on a daily basis by all the awesome things going on here! Since right after I joined I have been part of the minnowsupport discord community which was like a breath of fresh air in the complexities of steemit. For a few months now I've been a moderator there and we have grown to over 12k members! I don't know if I would have survived my first few months here if I hadn't found a support network. Since then it has blossomed and I've joined some other communities (slothicorn, creative commons art, music groups) and managed to find some of the most amazing/caring people I've ever met.

I don't have a pitch lol I just wanted to say your title caught my eye as it is so true. Help others and give what you can and it pays back in spades by making the whole platform better. I'm excited to see what the Eos platform will be, it might give steemit a kick in the butt to do even better!

Oh and this is the only concrete number I can find as of this moment: Current number of Steemit users: 761007, we'll be hitting 1 million in no time :)

Hi @surfyogi ! I am amazed on how the Steem Blockchain is changing lifes all around the world! Thanks for sharing your ideals and for all the support you are giving here on the Steem Blockchain community.

It is amazing to see:

1- How people in Africa are creating Hubs to teach Steemit and the Steem
blockchain to there fellows.

2- How people collaborate each other for the good of their community, and how the steem blockchain lets them do this!

3- How people are promoting Steemit all around the world as voluntairst and they can get rewarded for that. If we think about a massive marketing happening like this in a voluntaristic way, its something never seen in the history of man kind, and the Steem Blockchain permits this!

4- How the best of the best developers are coming to the steem blockchain to unleash their smart ideas and create developments to free up the world! @utopian-io is making this easier than ever!

I am not sure if you have the chance to review any of the Chapters of the 11 Chapter full Steemit guide I am creating for minnows, new visitors, new steemit users, for them to understand Steemit and the Steem Blockchain as easier, fast and as much as possible, and thus help them make their way on Steemit.

I'm glad your on here surfyogi! I hope that one day I have as much Steem to influence and make positive changes however I can. I do what I can with my small stake though.

If you want to see stats go look at penguin pablo's post. He should be still doing steemstats, you might have to scroll through to see his olders posts, but they should reflect the total number of accounts and also show the new accounts per day and etc. It has per day stats, not per minute though. there are 1440 minutes in a day though so you could divide them out.

My first couple days on Steemit I seen a kid from Africa who was making more than his teacher at school, just from posting on Steemit and being here. Someone in California might not be able to survive off 10$ worth of upvotes today, but in other places.. its life changing. That was a powerful thing for me to see on here!

I would like to write a daily type of post like that, I also feel it would help me clear my head, as well as hone my writing skills. I get caught up hearing words on here like adding value, reward pool rape, etc.. It makes me wonder if I shouldn't do that because it's not 'adding value', though adding value is completely perspective based. If one person read what I said and learned from it, that's adding value really.

It was good to hear Ned reply to my recent comments to him.. He said he is ready for the competition. Thats what I wanted to hear. He also said he thinks HiveMind and SMT's are ahead of the game, even ahead of EOS. That was good to hear.

Our pennies are their livelihoods by comparison. On our @YouAreHOPE transparency weekly broadcast this week, a couple venezuelan attendees pointed out that average MONTHLY wage in their country would be about 2SBD. Read that again. A loaf of bread tho, costs about 25% of that. Our work here is literally changing many lives for the cost of our usual fast food lunch.

And that's a beautiful thing. I just wish the people in the higher places on the whale to minnow chart would appreciate that as well. Like surpassinggoogle does for example. That guy is amazing.

I wish they would notice too. Our support comes mostly from minnows and some dolphins. Perhaps the poor are more generous than the wealthy? We've done so much for 100s of orphans, and children and adults in desperate need situations on so little in the last 4 months, that it's staggering to think what we could with some real money.

There are many people that have struggling here but I feel sometimes so many writing nothing appreciated from curator! Do we must to develop this steemit? Yes!!!

A platform like Steemit has opened up enormous possibilities for people like me across the world, and most likely it is their first step towards cryptocurrency.

Personally, I found it at a time when I had been scammed out of money by a friend, and i was apprehensive how one could just earn money by sharing their thoughts through blogs and engaging with the community. But once I saw actual results and realized how good in general the community here is, I was committed.

The need of the hour is not just quality content creators on this platform, but quality content curators too. Being a part of @ocd allows me to help many undervalued steemians who are blogging on a variety of topics but go unnoticed. With the influx of more users, there are more posts that will go unnoticed and it takes time for a minnow to understand how things work. I try to offer some tips, give guidance or the very least a small vote for post that would otherwise pay out 0. I try to vote on different kinds of posts, I love curating comments on my posts too to encourage interaction but in general I am investing by powering up so that once the price of Steem goes up, my votes will have much bigger impact.

I've learnt over the course of my journey here, there is greater joy in giving than receiving. I try do giveaways now and then and I've planned few more, I'd like to host more contests, overall I'll continue to support this community that has shown me light in times of darkness and despair.

Thank you @surfyogi for bringing forth this endeavor! More power to you...

It wows and mesmerizes me how someone can completely change somebody else's life miles a way with just a few upvote clicks. That is really something unique and absolutely heart touching. With level of poverty more si in third world countries, steemit and steem will probably be a game changer. I am Kenyan and unfortunately there aren't as many Kenyans on the steemit platform. Many of them are not so farmiliar nor conversant with the blockchain technology. The most popular crypto here is bitcoin and maybe Etherium.
That is why i plan to come together with my fellow Kenyan steemians so that we can plan on setting up a physical steem hub here in Nairobi, which will also be a blockchain tech school. Since i have been an entertainment event organizer, i also plan to organize steem events and seminars in Kenyan Universities and schools. It's time to preach steem and i'm so determined.
Haven't pitched this idea anywhere else but after reading your post i got this fire and zeal to do it.

Its really true Steemit for us is a change in the face. Whenever I use the steamit I used to be brave.
I can say without doubt that there is no such impression like steem that community development like this has improved.
Steemit is a new enthusiasm for us.
I can boldly say that I have used my steem money right. Our country is still very poor people live. Many did not have any hot clothes in this winter. I have distributed blankets among them. Steem are there. I could afford it. I think many of them work for community development like their mood by steem.

There seems to be people who just join every community hoping to leach value off them and then there are people who invest meaningful amount of their Steemit time into just a couple of community at most.

I don’t follow a lot of people because I choose to invest time in many of them either thought helping answer a question, leaving thoughtful comments, and tossing upvote to undervalued things. If they also resteem a post like this into my feed I do tend to read and do what I can to help out the amazing content out their.

Apart from that I am very active in 1 community in particular. I fly their footer in my blogs, I engage in the many activities that community itself creates. I answer questions in their discord server when I have the time. While they now have over 100 members and it’s getting harder to be personable with everyone I do try and read a large sum of their blogs or least check in every couple of weeks and see what everyone is up to. I’m not perfect there are some I just don’t have comment to leave on or am not interesting in content. But I try and be a team player when can.

Because of this I get to see with my own eyes a community grows right in front of me. If everyone just put a little more effort into building up the community around them and being supportive this platform would be just that much better of a place for people to be involved in and enjoy the rewards.

I just know being a team player and getting to enjoy community has made steemit even a better place for myself not being alone in it. I see so many people joining a bunch of community's and yet they miss out on what it means to be in one because they can't make time for all the things they are apart of.

Before heading to Steemit, I have this group of photographers who always go the extra mile. On every quarter or in every 6 months, we always make sure that we get to do an outreach. Now that I am here in Steemit and fortunate to be in a flock of good people, I am hopeful I can establish what we have started outside of Steemit.

I'd actually like some help with an idea that I have on how growing passive income streams in the rural communities of my country South Africa. I noticed that even though things are dire for the poor in the rural areas, there somehow is funds for people to walk around with smart phones. Wouldn't it be great to build mobile tower that can give the poor access to the internet. Perhaps the system could pay for itself through gateway ads, but the main point is to get those communities on Steem, because they conclude the mass market. If the mass market can get access to passive income streams using 21st century tools then maybe we can have a more exciting future ahead..

Firstly, as this is the first of your posts I have read I have to say Love the name! Sounds like the perfect life to me!

Secondly, Having only been on steemit for just over a month, I see so many "hey vote me, follow me" posts it is a bit disheartening. I typically spend an hour minimum on content that I create. Some are a whole lot longer, for example my path to freedom series takes several days to put together. I do it to try to help people understand the topics I discuss. I have to break the contents down into very easy to digest, non techy parts. The bots seem to be an issue too, sure I have used a few to upvote my content as typically its the only way it can be seen, that to me is not right, or at least makes me uncomfortable in a social media platform context.

I do have to say that almost every interaction I have had on steemit has been a positive one and I do enjoy publishing to the platform. Competition for the user base will only push the development of the steemit platform.

As for names for the EOS platform, hows about E-wall or Edge of Social?

Great things are happening here day in day out on steemit. It has developed our interest in volunteerism. Made us care about the homeless and needy amongst us. We have started to help the community and we are planning to reach the poor older people with great expertise. Here in Romania the retired people live to the limit of subsistence and I will try to involve them in our community project. I wrote about this a few days ago but it didn't have the exposure I thought it would have. I will not give up though, this is why I am here. Cheers!

Can you please look me up in discord so we can have a chat? There are a few things I'd like to thank you for, but I actually know of an underserved national community here that needs some of all the things you listed in your request for proposals.

They need leadership, education, and training. The represent a massive number of users here already and more are coming. I have some ideas but I don't want to elaborate here, because, well suggesting an entire country of our users need help, is tantamount to racism and it could very well be construed as such, only it was their prominent users who came to me for this very help.

I'd also like to just get to know you a bit better, we seem to be crossing paths a lot more lately than we used to since our early days when we did more often back then. You've done very well! Admirable.

Let's chat sometime. I honestly came to your blog to leave that chat invitation and found this post I had overlooked. Timely serendipity perhaps.

There is one other major thing i want to share with you about community growth, but it too is still a bit private till we are ready to bring it out into the light soon. But you should be included/aware.
