Do Posts On Steemit Get Lost Forever?

in steemit •  8 years ago  (edited)

this is more like the entirety of one question on my mind related to steemit:

When a post is newly made, is it only when it is new and gets its first storm of interaction that it gets some visibility? What happens a few days later? do these relevant posts still die forever or are they still served somewhere?

If a post is relevant, does it stay served around steemit forever? I really deep down want to understand the algorithm for how content is served!

I used to have a concept in the past of maintaining the visibility of content, re-viralizing viral content that died somehow, is that one aim of steemit too, or is it built around a model where if you don't have steem or steempower like it is called, your post is basically hidden?

Why do views have to die and sometime never wake up? does steemit help to abate this trend?

Where do our posts appear? How is it served?

Do hashtags really work?

Does tagging other users render posts reckless or unworthy?

Are there stats?

Those were the times sir. You've been there with only few helping. When we are a newbie, you are there helping us. Thanks!

It's getting late where I am, but I may give you some info as to the first part of your question(s). Look at my comment exchange with 'demotruk' =here=. I'm also a newbie - but just keep on reading (including comment threads). It's worth the effort! If this platform survives in a good way, we won't regret it.

Was poem-like and it worked!

I'm new to this and Steemit is already stressing me out because I can't upvote and I can't publish anything. Not sure why.

Anyway, I think that's similar to reddit. Your post can be linked and so on, so it stays alive, but it will have the "first moment hype" when you earn more.

we are in the same shoes but i think help will gradually come. it is like an entire school. i had the same issue not being able to upvote. they say it has something to do with steem power etc i tried to upvote ur comment here tho and i was able to but it cancels out i.e i click upvote and it loads and shows 1 vote then i cancels out and it is back to zero. i think it may have to do with being new. i have this article that i read today that broke down a few things, authored by @mindover:

It really does help to read a lot of the posts about how Steemit works and how to use it well. This is a good link, too -- they have a free PDF guid to Steemit. The link is in this post: 24. https://steemit.com/steemit/@donkeypong/steemit-101-e-book-revised-with-major-updates-here-is-your-free-supplement

The introduceyourself tag is for creating a post that tells us about you. Users are encouraged to use this tag exclusively for that, and not to reuse it. Abusing tags can potentially lead to people flagging you, even from dan himself.

this is very important as i have been wanting to know how not to get flagged. at first i was using 5 tags, then i start to notice that it is within the very first tag that the post falls into. so for instance, do you mean that if i used have used the introduce yourself tag in the past, i can no longer use it first in my set of 5 tags? what if i had introduceyourself tag among my tags for a post but not as the first, will that cause me to be flagged. thank you for your tip

Just use relevant tags. For example, steem-help, faq, questions, and help would be good for this post. Steemit is related and most likely won't get you flagged but it is overused.

The introduceyourself tag should be only used if you wish to tell us about yourself. Generally users only use it once, maybe twice if they want to expand on their first post or the first post wasn't done well.

When I choose tags, just think about how relevant to the topic it is. For example, you write about cats: dog would be irrelevant, but cats, pets, animals are relevant.

You can always change/edit any tag but the first.

Hope this helps!

It did help a lot. Fank you

I think when you first post, the post has the greatest visibility. That's when you can earn money. Your posts remain in your blog forever. And I think in the categories that you tag your post with. But with so many new posts, all of what we post will be buried by new content. Please don't use the introduceyourself tag anymore. It looks like we use that once and to use it more breaks a rule. Finally, I found that by looking at other posts, and commenting on the ones that were interesting, the number after my name increased. So today I can vote on posts! Have a good evening surpassinggoogle :-)

you are really learning. even faster than me, i would say. so basically only if people bookmark you post an link to it will you keep getting reseen or something like that. that ultimately means the art of posting forever. i dont know if this is a hard or easy thing. i really want to use the introduceyouself post once. i havent dont my intro and i have been working on it. what do you think i should do in this case. do i use it one last time?
