"Most Burmese silver made in the late 19th century & early 20th century was made of 90% pure silver. During the Raj Period, silver produced in Madras became known to the British as “Swami silver,” because of its decorative gods and other sacred festival themes.
This bowl is made of silver coins from Burma by Thai craftsman at Chang-Mai, the center of the silver smelts in Thailand.
It is beaten by hand in high relief showing figures from the ancient Thai folklore."
