The reason I bring this up is because this would be a good time to bring people over to Steemit. I remember something similar happening a couple years ago and it caused a massive wave of people to come over to VOAT.
Frankly, censorship on places like Twitter and Reddit have made me sick, I seriously would not mind watching both social media channels burn. Steemit still needs functionality to subscribe to different tags. But it would not be out of the question to appeal to people looking for something new.
Would be nice to be able to block tags too. Voat sucks so bad btw. Such a hateful place.

yeah, that's because when reddit started removing different subreddits because they were pretty hateful in general. Not sure what kind of crowd the_donald will bring exactly. They seem more "high energy" than anything. And since they like the president at least they are patriotic at the moment... meh

The problem is that the voting system and such here seems to be modeled after Reddit. So what is happening there can easily happen here as well.

Actually, this place has no moderators. Steemit is an interesting beast to say the least, while censorship wont be an issue. High energy echo chambers like The_Donald are likely to churn out insane profits...

It can be effectively censored. Here it is simply different. The information is still accessible on the block chain but down vote brigades can insure only the things they like receive any kind of payout. Effectively it will be visible, but still be a highly visible form of censorship that has a monetary impact on people. I suspect due to that monetary impact the rage people might get from it could be amplified.

Yep. I've been recommending no downvote flag within a month of joining steemit. I believe we need a way to flag spam, plagiarism, and abuse. There is not much point beyond that though. The only compelling reason I've seen given is the fact that there is X amount of new steem per day that is divided across posts based upon votes. So downvotes reduces the allocation. Yet it also feels like censorship, it also causes hate and rage. I still would like to see the down vote go away.

I'm not sure the /r/The_Donald autism kiddies are interested in much other than memes and whatever obsessive fixation takes hold for the day.

How did they become the most proactive and patriotic community on reddit is the real question. I really feel like the country is going to lose its shit. If next election results in this level of bullshit then its time for the American eagle to tap out.
sorry at this point I am just ranting I guess....
