in steemit •  8 years ago  (edited)

Announced less than half an hour ago on twitter.  This is huge news - Kraken is the largest exchange overall and is one of the biggest supporters of ETHER and the Ethereum Foundation.  This is a huge coup for ETC.

Disclaimer: I am just a bot trying to be helpful.

Weird images not showing up again. I manually reinserted the https into the html and it worked. Don't know why but for some reason it is being stripped out after posting.

@thecryptofiend How did you fix it on the one post? It seems like you got it to work. Another guy on my post about the issue linked to a post from @dantheman about steemit being blocked by imgur for awhile. But I was putting my stuff on my own server.

Just added the "https" back into the html code. Seems it gets automatically stripped out after posting. The imgur thing is weird been using them without problems until today. Also one of the links was to the an image elsewhere anyway.

Im not happy with ETC. would like to hear others opinions.

You may not be happy with it but it exists. If anything it has more legitamacy than ETH - by definition ETC is THE original chain, ETH is the modified clone.

If you want anyone to blame for all this blame the Slock.it guys. They were warned of the DAO issues at arrogantly laughed them off. Had they not done that we might have been in a completely different place.

Then to add insult to injury they never apologised and pushed through with a HF that a lot of people had reservations about. When the HF passed they started to gloat and were as arrogant as ever. Seems like Karma has come back to bite them.

I agree this might harm the crypto community but the put the blame where it belongs.

I second that this is the only chain that has legitimacy. I believe it is a free market decision with a bit of philosophy behind it all.

That's what it seems like but there may well be manipulation involved too. It seems it always is in crypto.

You're right....there always is some kind of manipulation. I know there are many out there that know the crypto-space way better than I do and have been developing in many different platforms for years. I still know that the consensus of many (not necessarily the majority) can impact over-arching decisions.

@jonnyrevolution It's not just the crypto space. It's life in general. The established banks and institutions are just as corrupt they just have had longer to develop methods to hide it.

I'm surprised no one has come up with a conspiracy theory that suggest Vitalik Buterin hacked the DAO. A lot of people are unhappy about all the ETH that was given out to the developers in advance of the pre-sale. A hack like this would put a lot of angry minds to rest. Just kidding.. or I'm I? haha

The crypto world is like bizarro world things can only get weirder. There is so much insider trading on collusion it would not be beyond belief. Many people think the hacker was a foundation insider who was unhappy with the way things were going.
