I recently bought a few STEEM on Poloniex.com, and then i found out that its not possible to transfer STEEM from external sources and into my steemit account. Why is this? As far as i can tell, it is not possible with Steem dollars either.
Wouldn't that just drive the price of STEEM lower and lower on exchanges, since as soon as people transfer it out, their only option is to sell it for BTC, or transfer it to some 3rd party marketplace.
Is it to prevent some kind of abuse that you are not able to use steemit account as a proper STEEM wallet with deposit/withdrawals working as it does on any other coin?

This should be possible. Try asking in #help on steemit.chat.

Okay! However, it really shouldn't be that hard to find. If it is possible, they should make it obvious in the 'Wallet' section :) Thanks for your reply, i will try out the steemit chat #help.
