The fact is, many newbies get excited about steemit when take a flip at the trending topics and see overwhelming dollars on the posts but their excitement dissipate when they register and begin to churn out their own topics but aren't getting what they expected.
Many people see steemit as an easy ride to become a millionaire overnight with little or no stress probably because they've seen their friends earning handsomely from their hard work.
Although, steemit offers a great circuit of people to have an outlet for their creativity that they can profit from. However, steemit has been empowering a lot of people and it has given many a leverage to be financial OK
If you've paid attention to the way the system works, you will see that the strength of the dollars you get on your post is largely dependant on the Steem Power held by the voter(s) . This means you can have dozens or hundreds of votes on your post, but if the majority of voters have little Steem Power (SP), you will just earn maybe a cent
I know you must have been hearing everyone talking about whales and it's the dream of everyone to get
a vote from a whale. One vote from a whale is all it takes to add hundreds or even thousands of dollars to your post. Of course, most whales appreciate good works and won't just upvote anything. You have to impress them with good and fascinating contents before you can have their upvote.
So I send my word of encouragement to anyone that is just starting out or is becoming discouraged and frustrated.
All I want you to know is that Steemit is NOT a “get rich quick scheme” and people need to get this into their heads (in addition to many who are already members of Steemit)
Steemit is highly dominated by many intellectuals so if you can repeatedly copy and paste contents of other people and expect those around here to buy it as original contents, you are in the wrong place.
When people visit your feed several times and they and discover that your blog is devoid of creativity, uniqueness but only "copy and paste" they tend to completely lose interest in your works because you're simply not adding anything to this community.
Although, we all can't deny the fact that we often make use of certain resources out there to add to our posts, such as images, quotes, facts, graphs etc. but the difference comes in when people teleport another person's work verbatim and make copy and paste a daily routine.
The energy, time and stress involved in creating quality contents might be a little challenging from the onset but the more you do it, the more naturally it will come. Steemit is for those who are hard working not for lazy bones.
It requires patience, persistence and consistence so if you're that type that registered yesterday and you expect to start seeing $100 on your posts, then you're at the wrong place.
Posting and earning nothing is a phase everyone will or has passed through (including the whales). A phase when you've written your best but when you publish it, you earn little or nothing. So don't think you are alone.
So, my advice for you is to work hard. Remember that one becomes a millionaire overnight. It requires hard work, sacrifice and patience.
Try to comment people's topics, not just "nice post" or "I like this" but very thoughtful comments. This goes a long way in increasing your reputation.
Also, devise strategies that can make you improve the community and not just about earning.
Life is in stages. No one on Steemit started as a whale, he or she started with zero reputation and build on it.
I hope someone learnt something from this

Yeah it's going to be a tough grind ahead but to be honest I joined today and I'm just buzzed that I have the opportunity to make a single dollar off what I write, that opportunity didn't exist before I'd heard of this site..
