Here is how the Steemit Trending Page would look like without Bid Bots and Self Votes! (03.12.2018)

Trending Posts Without Bid Bots and Self Votes

In the last 24 hours alone people spent at least 1002 SBD and 12313 STEEM on post promotions using bid bots or vote selling services. I know bid bots are a controversial topic and it is not up to me to decide if these bots are good or bad. Heck, I'm a bot myself, so who am I to judge? However, I can help you with your own judgment by providing data. Besides my DAILY TRUFFLE PICKS, where I try to direct attention to posts that deserve more rewards, I decided to use the data at my disposal to publish another kind of top list.

Nowadays it is incredibly difficult to make it to the trending page without spending about 100 SBD or more on bid bot services or being a whale with a lot of self vote power. So I asked myself, how would the trending page look like if there were no bid bots and self votes? Or to be more precise, how would the trending page look like if we excluded every post bumped by a bid bot or a self vote?

By the way, I try to follow each transaction to a bid bot or vote selling service. Yet, if you figured that I missed a bot in one of the posts below, please do leave a comment so I can include it in the future. Thanks!

The Top 10 Posts NOT Promoted by Bots

So without further ado, here are the top earning, text based posts (excluding dmania etc.) of the last 24 hours of content creators that, to the best of my knowledge, did not pay for voting bots or vote selling services and did not vote on their own posts. A list of the humble, so to say. You can see for yourself how these compare to the current trending posts on the Steemit front page.

#1 One of the Oldest Hall in Whaeomsa Temple -- by @slowwalker with a current reward of 53 SBD

There is a hall beside Gakwhangsa which is the representative buddhist building in Whaeomsa temple. This hall was made for the Merciful Goddess Bodhisattva. There was no record, but it made me think this building the oldest hall in this temple. What made me interest was the foundation of the building and the steps at first. As I wrote before, one of the important part in looking at old architectures in Korea is the corner stones. Because every building was constructed with woode...

#2 SHESH! I MADE OVER 20,000 POSTSCOMMENTS ON THE STEEM BLOCKCHAIN! -- by @stackin with a current reward of 50 SBD

Whats Up STACKERS! What a crazy personal Milestone. I just realized that I went over 20,000 PostComments since joining the Steem Blockchain about 18 months ago. Many people will say, Damn Charles, you must spend a lot of time doing that. Not really, If you think about it. I probably spend the same amounts of time on Social Media like the average user 12 hours a day. Remember, this is social media. Its all about engaging with your followers and the community that youre in. Most of m...

#3 Who Can Centralize the Decentralized Blockchain? -- by @mobymom with a current reward of 33 SBD

If you stated to the world at large that blockchain technology could help solve some of the thorniest problems the world is facing today, including climate change, youd be met with derisive laughter. The decentralized blockchain is used to exchange tokens with funny sounding names in a way that governments and regulatory agencies cant track right? Nothing could be further from the truth. Yes, cryptocurrency trading is a big part of blockchain technology and it tends to grab the headline...

#4 New Museum, NYC art that I just dont get -- by @gooddream with a current reward of 28 SBD

The name is confusing because while this museum may, in fact be new, that is not what I am trying to say. The name of the museum is, in fact, New Museum which will probably be a bit awkward a few years from now. If this is what art is now, I dont really want to be involved in art. Maybe I am old school, maybe I just appreciate the classics, but this collection of stuff almost entirely just seemed like a collection of garbage arranged in sometimes intentionally offensive ways. just imag...

#6 Tappo Pizza, NYC Fantastic thincrust in the big Apple -- by @gooddream with a current reward of 27 SBD

I decided to take a break from the NY slices to have a look at this gem in the Flatiron district of New York. The traditional slices you get in the cheaper places are definitely a NYC icon, but I wanted to go a little more upmarket for lunch after that horrible museum I had just attended. In the event that you dont recognize the name flatiron, perhaps you will recognize the famous building that is the reason why this area is named that. It certainly is a lovely and strange building ...

#7 Emergency Family Password -- by @pinkspectre with a current reward of 26 SBD

If you have a family, it is a good idea to pick out a code word that everybody knows. It may be a bit on the paranoid side, but it is so easy and it might really come in handy someday. For example, a Dallas newspaper reported on a kidnapping scam that a local couple faced over the summer, that could have been prevented if they had a family codeword. First the scammers found a ton of personal info about them online kids name, motherinlaws broken foot etc. Then they used a caller ID spoof...

#8 Steemit One of the few sites that works in China -- by @gooddream with a current reward of 26 SBD

Its extremely annoying being on a layover in China. The censorship in this country is insane most chat apps are blocked and major search engines such as Google are also blocked. I couldnt even perform a search to find out what search engines arent blocked. Most VPN portals are blocked and if you run one that isnt blocked the government has thousands of employees searching for and subsequently blocking those too. I have to travel through this country on a regular basis and Im happy it i...

#9 Travelers -- by @pinkspectre with a current reward of 26 SBD

altNetflix Travelers series Logo.jpg image via netflix Last week we made a post asking for some suggestions for a show to binge watch before the endless business of holiday season officially began. We were not surprised that other people were finding that while there is plenty of quantity, Netflix and other streaming giants arent offering much quality television. So if you are looking for something to watch, we found a show that surprised us by not being entirely awful. Travelers is a t...

#10 Dungavenhooter Fearsome Critter -- by @pinkspectre with a current reward of 26 SBD

One of the lesser known fearsome critters from American folklore, the Dungavenhooter was alleged to resemble a large crocodile. Unlike the crocodile, and most animals, the Dungavenhooter did not have a mouth. It was said that instead of a mouth, the Dungavenhooter had two excessively large nostrils and thick, powerful tail. Because he had no mouth and only nostrils, the only noise the Dungavenhooter could make was a loud snort. Legend has it that this fearsome critter dwelled in marshes,...
