As human beings, we do need leisure. It’s always good to work with a relaxed manner. However, it is quite difficult to be relaxed in time of doing hard work. Therefore, leisure does provide an opportunity for people to refresh themselves before moving towards another level of work.
There are different types of entertainment to help people during their leisure. One of the things I enjoy doing is watching movies during my leisure. Although watching movies is meant to be a form of entertainment, I normally would choose movies with several characteristics.
First, it upholds values which do not contradict the universal virtues. Taking justice as an example, the moral of the movie should emphasise what ultimately prevails is such virtue rather than those who are involved with injustice.
Secondly, it has to be realistic in terms of reflecting the nature of humanity. In other words, universal value is not ambiguous, yet the behaviour of anyone can be complexed. His or her intention may not easily to described as either black or white. Instead, it can be a grey area.
Thirdly, it can provide some helpful information into area I may not be aware of. However, as it is a movie, I don’t expect it to be like a documentary series lest it loses its entertaining feature.
Hence, it is related to the fourth characteristic.
Fourthly, it has to be entertaining, if not, such movie would fail my expectation of watching it for my leisure.
