This is my starting experience guide for all the new people like myself on steam it.

First of all, I would like to say that I have been on steemit for 2 3 weeks and I am seeing a slow growth for thees weeks.

This article will be split into a few sections explaining how aspects of the site benefit you and my point of view on how things are going based on my growth.

The beginning

I started off on steam it posting two or three articles that made around 15 SBD total, which gave me a moral boost to continue putting effort into my writings.
At the beginning, I didn't know that steemit had more to offer than just getting paid for posting some articles.
And I must thank @thejohalfiles who was the first person to follow me and give me a moral boost by upvoting my stuff.

My goal at the beginning was to post an article a day and wait till there were some followers.

The blindsight to that was that steemit pays out more if you are active, commenting and posting on a daily basis.

Overview

Here are graphs that show the difference between not commenting and liking. The first two weeks ( marked with red ) show the growth progress by only posting an article a day.

Commenting and being active

The main thing a new person should know is that at the beginning you can get more for being active and commenting rather than just spending 2/3 hours to write an article that will probably payout at 0.something

Here is an example.

Imagine you spent 2 3 hours to make a good article and the end result is this.

Now imagine you make 5 good quality comments that take no more than 10/15m + reading the article and the end result is this.

At the end, it's better to be more active at the beginning by going around the site and socializing, not focusing on making money until you accumulate some followers and some rep.

End Results

Reading commenting and socializing gets you more followers, money, and rep at the beginning, rather than posting a ton of articles (hoping one goes viral)

Don't abuse yourself to be overactive, rather be yourself and you will be rewarded for that.
If you don't know what to say don't say it, spamming " Great Post" on 100 posts per day will get you nowhere.

Hope some of this was helpful, this is more of a personal EXP comparison and tips kind of post than a guide.
Much love to all steemers :)

Ok that makes sense. I noticed the vest rating in the badges scoreboard too.
Well as I did say im a newbie myself too, so cheers for the info :)

This post received a 48% upvote from @randowhale thanks to @vangelov! For more information, click here!

Great post and great lessons for other newbies! Engagement pays! :D

To answer the vests question:
Vests are a direct measure of your Steam Power compared to the total amount of Steem Power held (among everybody.)

Holding SP is pretty equivalent to having a piece of ownership of this place.

RIght now 1 millions vests or 1 MV = 482.794 Steem Power...which is there users have their vote slider bar unlocked. :)

I also had this confusion. Thanks for clearing my doubt @sykochica

And @vangelov , yes you are absolutely right, at the end, the quality matters than quantity (rather, more quantity ruins the quality). Posting less helps, your followers get more time in between to look up your posts, rather than getting notified every few hours about a new post from you. In fact, they will get irritated with it and stop following you.

All the best, I spent 1.5 week here and learnt lots of stuff. Every day is adventurous at Steemit.

And, well, earned some money too ;)

Good post, This will help new member

I had a look at your profile/ wallet, great start!

Out of interest, what does the vesting mean, in your wallet history?

Honesty I have no idea. I was wondering myself for a couple of days now.
But it doesn't go anywhere to what I see. I think it's a bug in the payment system.

Also, for some reason, often people who reply to my comments get a large payout like this?

Yea. Currently you get a up vote boost if you are using the eSteem mobile app.
It's an initiative to get more people using it.
It's going to be like that for a day or two, so I suggest taking advantage of it. :)

Great tip, trying it out with this!
Felt a bit strange giving my pass to a 3rd party intermediary... But at least they claim they only store locally on your phone.

A lot of people are using the eSteem app.
You can check the thread out on the trending section.
It has more information on it.

Definitely, I'm using it now and it's pretty good.

I've followed you by way of saying thanks!

Thank you too :) returning the favour ^^
