Earn More When You Choose 100% Power Up Rewards?

in steemit •  7 years ago  (edited)

I can't help but notice that I used to earn more on each of my posts when I used to choose 100% Power Up as my rewards. Now, pretty happy with my more than 500 Steem Power, I've decided to do the default 50%/50%. I haven't been getting as much attention, it seems.

My theory: Whales appreciate your wanting to invest more into Steemit, because it ultimately benefits them (along with everyone on Steemit) therefore they are more apt to upvote your post if you've chosen 100% Power Up (rewards).

What are your thoughts on this, guys? Have you flirted with 100% and 50%/50%? If so, what are your findings?

It certainly could be that I haven't made as much interesting content of late, but I doubt it.

Thanks for stopping by!

I think your observation is correct, @vegansilverstack. Steemit naturally would want to reward investors and stakeholders who are in it long-term, and that is quite understandable. About a month after joining Steemit, in April, I guess, she celebrated her one year anniversary since inception. Here is an excerpt of the steemit whitepaper which should help you better understand how steemit works.
Steem Power (SP)
Start up companies require long-term capital commitment. Those who invest their money
in a startup expect to wait years before they can sell their shares and realize their profits.
Without long-term commitment, a startup seeking to raise additional capital through the
sale of additional shares would be competing with existing shareholders looking to exit.
Savvy investors want their capital contributions to grow the company, but growth cannot
happen if the new capital is given away to those looking to exit.
There is significant value to having long-term commitment because it enables communities
to make long-term plans. Long term commitment of stakeholders also causes them to vote
for long-term growth rather than short-term pumps.
In the cryptocurrency space, speculators jump from cryptocurrency to cryptocurrency
based mostly on which one is expected to have short-term growth. Steem wants to build a
community that is mostly owned and entirely controlled by those with a long-term
perspective.
Because Steem wants to encourage long-term growth, it is hardwired to allocate 9 STEEM to
Steem Power (SP) stakeholders for every 1 STEEM it creates to fund growth through
contribution incentives. Over time this drives the ratio of the total STEEM value of Steem
Power balances to the total of STEEM balances toward 9:1 . (It seems likely that the ratio will
be somewhat greater than 9:1 due to continued net Powering Up of the newly printed
STEEM.) It also means that long-term holders are almost completely protected from the
dilution used to fund growth. (source, page 9 of https://steem.io/SteemWhitePaper.pdf) .
Cheers.

Very nice, thank you!

You are most welcome!

Oh wow, I didn't know, thank you very much!

So it is not about the whales, it is about you being able (through your posts) to generate more steem power for your benefit and for the benefit of the steemit community. It's a win-win thing. That is how I see it ! Well done! Upvoted and resteemed your post for greater visibility. You might want to check out my latest blog post regarding voting, https://steemit.com/steemit/@maryfavour/steemit-hard-fork-0-19-0-moving-from-the-40-full-power-vote-era-to-10-full-power-vote-era . Stay updated and STEEM ON!

Thank you, that's generous of you :) I will check out your post!

You are welcome, @vegansilverstack. I am dedicated to helping new Steemians AKA #redfish, grow. It will be my joy to see all red fish today become #whales in future. Cheers.

Responding to your question, Have you flirted with 100% and 50%/50%? If so, what are your findings? For most of the time, say about 85-90%, I have focused on powering up my steemit account, either thruogh my posts or by buying steem power. If you check my blog posts, most of them have the power up steemit symbol. This has benefited me so much, so continue with the #powerupchallenge . Your steem power benefits will be even greater after steemit hard fork 19 which will happen in a few days from today . When you have time, read my post about hf 19 from here, https://steemit.com/steemit/@maryfavour/steemit-hard-fork-0-19-0-moving-from-the-40-full-power-vote-era-to-10-full-power-vote-era .

I read it @maryfavour, thank you! Can't wait for the hardfork!

Great! Neither can I wait for the hardfork, @vegansilverstack! It's my pleasure. Cheers.

Funny thing you said that, I been testing this past 5 post, I think I'm going back to 100% Steem Power.

I really think there is something to it.

I really need to try 100% power up, I am not going to cash out in the foreseeable future anyway.

I was thinking it could also just be down to the fact there's a little colourful logo which catches attention instead of just plain text. I'm going 100% as I just started and want to see what's possible on this platform and contribute to it's growth. Don't really care about making a few dollars out of it.

I was thinking the same. Your post looks a bit more official with that nice little logo next to it.

Ive been testing this and it seems I liked 100% better and was getting more attraction. 50/50 is still oaky but Id rather give more.

Maybe 50/50 is seen by fewer people somehow? Or do you think that the whales just upvote 100% posts more?

I usually use 100% power up, until someone commented on my blog and said you earn more if you go 50/50 and swap your dollars for steem power on Poloniex. But I have no clue so I'm sticking to 100% from now on. (:

good I had this question either..

Nice keep on upvoting n steemin guys! Nice blog post.

very nice, thanks ;)

I'll let you know once a whale votes on one of my posts. Lol I've done a few each way so far and haven't seen much difference. I'm gonna go 100% for a while to build some steem though.

Thanks so much for this info. Definitely makes sense to me
