How great is Steemit??!!
As a long-time writer, I love getting instant recognition for my work. I have successfully tweeted and run websites under other names. But those other formats do not provide such instant feedback. The feedback pushes me to be better. And I like that.
I believe in Steemit and what is stands for.
But I also do not fully understand it.
I have toiled for months, posting more than 500 articles (and comments). My reputation score is only 38. I write many articles that receive no upvotes at all. I have tried pretty much everything. I have engaged other users. And I have tried several writing approaches (serious writing; highly-technical; funny; light; etc.)
Nothing seems to get attention.
Meanwhile, a brand-new user posted his first article only 2 days ago. His got 2,000 upvotes and his reputation score is already in the high 50s.
I don't understand. I focus on tech, science, business, and crypto. Those are probably the most popular topics on Steemit. And again, I have been very successful in other formats (Twitter and websites).
I love writing. And I have a lot of things I want to continue talking about.
Am I building something big on Steemit? Or have I reached a dead-end? I am sure others have experienced similar issues. I'd love to hear the success stories.
I feel your pain. Honestly, you're one of my favorite writers on here and definitely deserve more recognition that you get. I feel like Steemit is a very "pay to play" platform right now and that discourages me as well. Pretty sure people mostly spend money to make money and it's not always about content quality.

It is a frustrating blog concept...to begin with...unless one is very tech savvy and good at detailed reading...trying to maneuver thru this blog is confusing...three type coins...delegation....witnesses....up vote...power....feels like a super power comic book...
Secondly...it seems to have been taken over by "rouge" groups and bots that somehow know how to work the system...a lot of folks write about possible solutions but...unfortunately...perhaps this is where decentralized type systems falter...no one big rule maker that can correct perceived "wrongs"...
I spend money promoting which is only way I found to get any recognition...I also try and pick out a few articles each day to respond to...does add some followers...but as you mentioned...my rep hasn't budged in months...
Not convinced this concept will be a long term player...good luck with your moving forward.

I've been posting for about a week now. So, partially I understand your frustration. Unfortunately, I havent uncoded yet the secret to steemit. But, I have found out how others get so many votes. One of them wrote an article about it. Personally I dont believe it is ethical https://steemit.com/tr/@muratkbesiroglu/5-advantages-using-paid-upvote-bots

Thanks. I just read the post you linked. How eye-opening.
I knew that bots were a big thing, but...wow....
