For me, I am purely after the social part of this platform. Where do I start? I like to write, photography, cooking and socializing. Do I just grab a hashtag and post? Do I just go add people to follow?
I have posted in a couple hashtags but no response. So what do I do?
Is there a notification here? How do I find any responses to posts?

For photography, get on steepshot. It's kind of like instagram, but feeds into the steemit blog, so you get the advantage of having your work in a smaller pool. For interaction, go to the top right, click that menu button and select explore. Look at the categories that have the most comments. Those are active places to post.
