Steemit is a wonderful community, but for many people it is just like a self help book. Let me explain.
Let's start by saying it is a really good self help book, not some cheesy one about how to get rich with tulips.
The most important thing about a self help book is the content and if a person is willing to read it. If someone doesn't read it, then they don't get any value from it. They may have bought it because it was a cool title, but if they don't read, they don't get help.
Steemit is similar. People come because they hear you can get free crypto for blogging, but then they don't read other people's blogs and don't put in the work. If you don't put in the time and effort to engage in the community then you won't get any value from it. Much like a self help book, you don't get any help if you don't engage.
Once you've read the book, then it is all about commitment. Sticking to the program or actually following through with the tips outlined in the book.
Here on Steemit, you have to be consistent too. Write daily and engage with the people around you. You can find all the tips on how to succeed right on Steemit, but it comes down to commitment and sticking to your plan.

When you read a self help book, you expect your life to get better in some way. Make more money, get thinner or be less angry. Steemit offers the same personal growth with our community. You can find support for losing weight by blogging about it and getting feedback. You can obviously make more money and crypto by being on Steemit. Being here even makes me less angry because I have a place to write and that brings me peace.
Steemit is a wonderful community filled with friendly and knowledgable people. Just being here and engaging provides the value that a dozen self help books could provide. You just have to stay active.

When I first joined Steemit, I was afreid that it was somehwat like Instagram, where it's all about posting thumbs up and emojis to hopefully get a few followers, but during the month I've spent on this platform, I've come to realize that great discussions and content really gets rewarded, so in that sense, it's a self help book which pays you to succeed:)
