If you ask this question to ten different people, you will probably get nine different answers, but it is still a very important discussion we need to have.
This is especially important for new users who don't realize that they are secluding themselves from the community by pouring all of their Steem & SBD into boosting their posts to the hot page, or god forbid the trending page.
It's basically like grabbing a megaphone and screaming to the community, "Hey I'm new, but don't mind me! I'm just trying to abuse the system!"
I'm sure many of you haven't put much time into fully grasping how Steemit works, but people aren't going to want to vote on a post that already has hundreds of votes on it.
They would get nothing from curation and they probably wouldn't want to support you're overnight success with an upvote. Maybe a flag will fly your way though!
Well ok, if I shouldn't bot vote my post to trending what should I do?
I believe the sweet spot for post promotion is between 1-5 Steem or SBD, which will should give you enough eyes on you're work and allow it to curated properly if it is actually quality!
A 50$ post that has been paid for is just granting you a false sense of success because you really aren't making that much, if any off of your investment.
Instead you should invest your time into establishing connections and joining a community. It's going to take a while, trust me. I've been here for a year and a half and barely have friends on here, but I do and that's all that matters!
What I've noticed after putting my effort into creating quality connections and content, my rewards exponentially grew!
Don't take my recent performance as any indicator because I can't be as consistent on here as I could in the past because of school, but every time I come back I am greeted with positive energy that reminds me that their is still hope that we will fix our issues and return from the ashes stronger.
Well I have to go study, so until next time, this has been a message form your friendly neighborhood #spiderblogger!
Whattup doge! Posting again?
Sorry I havent been auto voting, I've been delegating my SP out to smaller accounts... since the hardfork, the little guys have been struggling! :O
I think the sense of community is shattered here MOSTLY because of the bear's market (which seems to be tapering off into an accumulation phase). Although people be in a panic that users are dropping Steem specifically. At least in my case, I post far less due to the heavy demands of life... Once the market recovers I'll be in great shape and can ride the roller-poster again!!!

Quite a handful, in small measure, all at once. It's crucial to welcome small accounts before they get discourage and go elsewhere!!

Hey what’s up overkill!
And no worries bro, I rather talk than have an upvote anyway lol
And I have an easy week this week, so I figured I would drop back in and see how things are.
Good news, ima be a dolphin in a few days! My money was just sitting around and not doing anything so I figured I would invest it in steem so I can be ready to ride the wave come next bull market!
The only issue is since I can’t consistently post I decided to just invest/delegate to a voting bot until I have more time to contribute here
Honestly feel pretty shitty about it, but I rather have influence to actually make a difference than just continuously preach with nobody listening.
You think I’m in the wrong for doing so?

I would love to challenge you here @waphilip
Im using upvoting bots (without breaking any crazy limits) mostly because of my curators. What do I mean by that?
I've spent some decent amount of time building my followers base and engaging with people. I don't want them to abandon steemit (as many people do). I can upvote some of their posts and comment them showing my support. Which I do.
But I can also help them get some $$$ from upvoting my posts.
So once i post something I give curators 1 day and then Im using some bots to boost my payout. I hardly ever get anything out of it. And it cost me time. But it benefits my curators, which gives them a reason to stick around. Which is a great success.
What would you say about this approach?
Yours
Piotr

Oh I thought I responded to this my bad!
I think this is a great idea to make a little return on your investment and help your followers!
You might want to push up that time scale a little so you can get your post promoted when it’s fresh tho

I think that is a great approach which def helps with curation!
I would consider making a post about your method so they know why you use the bots! And maybe push up the time for when you use them because it’s a good way to get more exposure for your work!
One thing to ask yourself is when does post promotion turn into abuse! I stick to below $10 because that should be enough to get on the hot page
