People resteem stuff for the wrong reasonssteemCreated with Sketch.

They resteem stuff in order to make money off it, not for how good the content is. Thats kind of corrupt, don't you think.

You get a percentage of a the profits from a post that you resteem, depending on how many people you cause to upvote it.

I wish there was option on steemit to disable viewing the re-steems. A little checkbox to enable/disable resteems.

Another good option might be to have posts that are resteemed have a transparent color background on the home feed. A transparent colored background would allow you to faster scan for original posts from the people you follow.

OR maybe I just follow too many people. But I feel like people post a lot on here to "keep followers" or whatever. That being the case there becomes a lot of garbage in the feed.

Especially "Contest" posts (art contests usually), because people are often required to resteem the post in order to enter the contest. Theres nothing wrong with that because the post needs to generate enough revenue to pay the winner of the contest.

Maybe i shouldn't have written this, time will tell.

No, I'm glad you wrote that.
I use some resteem services but I would not be providing that service myself. I always pay money out of my wallet for my contests, but that's because I want quality comments / analysis on my posts, while building followers in the same niche. I like your idea with having a noticeable color background on the resteems as I also get stopped in my tracks going through my home feed.

@ackza told me about you! Nice to meet you, fellow Bitconnect member!

yes! thank you for the comment. i'm glad we got connected. I'm looking forward to the future with bitconnect and steemit . cheers!

I agree so much with you! I resteem only what I think is worth it as far as the quality or information is concerned. There are so much resteem sometimes you have to scroll down forever to find a real post of the account owner.
I think there are plugins that allows you to filter out those re-steems.

word up! thanks G! i'll connect with tytran

You are right. That's almost like Facebook Likes - hoping that they will 👍as well and thus keep it in the feed. Sometimes I wonder how some posts can reap tons of Steem in minutes. I look for good content, and I appreciate when someone has put a lot of thought and work into his post. Of course I resteem my friends more often - but I select my friends because they are good, not for what they in turn can do for me!

Perhaps people often resteem for the wrong reasons but I know that I and many others only resteem great content. However, completely agree that there should be a separate column for these or somehow delineated so they don't clog up the feed. It also drives me nuts sifting through my feed and I don't want to follow fewer people!

thank you for your comment, i no longer feel so ostracized in my thinking this :)

As far as I know you don't get any profit from resteeming. I'd love someone to correct me if I'm wrong but you can see what your payout are very clearly on tools like steemdb.com and I have never seen a cut taken for resteems.

oh my! thanks for the insight julia.

Actually there is browser add on that lets you do disable resteems. Check it out
@steem-plus
