Only a million people you say, how can we take on major social networks with that. It is still early. And yes there is a lot of growth we want to see on steemit. But the truth is we are not 100% ready. The site works and steem is a great blockchain, one with a LOT of potential. But steemit still needs to see some changes before we are ready to go mainstream.
First is making sure we can scale. If you have been keeping up with steemit posts that is what the company has been working a lot these last couple of months. This is crucial. You want to make sure you can handle 100s of millions of people before you are used to be 100s of millions of people. And the fact that steemit is working to make sure we can scale means they are pretty confident that we will scale. Then there is the community update, SMTs and the ability to on-board easier.
Once we get everything up and running then we can start to pump the network. There are big things coming here, we are only at the first couple of stages. And when the sites goes public I think it could be one of the big ones.
hey nice to see you

Over 1 million accounts. Once multi accounts are taken out it’s hard to guess how many individuals, and then of those a smaller percentage yet are still active. Even so, it’s a nice milestone! I’ve been around long enough I can remember the days when I would check Steemit twice a day and scroll through the “new” feed... and I’d be able to at least see (if not read) every post made. Those days are long since gone!

That's pretty incredible. And ya it would be great to cull all the fake account and post dumpers

I totally agree with you and it sure feels great to be part of the beginning of something as big as this. I believe once Steem goes public, it'd be unstoppable.

yes you are right we have not started to advertise steem

But we are undergoing a project called @steemjet where we are promoting STEEM globally for Mass adoption of steem. This project is organised by @dimimp and we work under him.

Steemit can go huge if it will be advertised that's for sure. Before that time comes, we must have huge steempower already!

I still have faith in the Steem platform in spite of all its problems. I am still on the fence about SMT's, they're a fantastic idea and will hopefully see a bunch of content-oriented ICO's take place right here on Steem and by proxy leverage the Steem platform for their applications. But whether or not SMT's are going to add or take away from the Steem platform and the value of Steem dollars remains to be seen.
And who knows what good is going to come of Hard Fork 20. Nonetheless, we are still in the early early infant stages of Steem It's barely two years old). Hopefully with a few nice improvements and fixes, Steem ends up advertising itself because people love it.

I guess that is one of the reasons that we are still in beta. Blockchain wise we kick ass. But that comes with the fact that technically we are still early adopters (although I wish like hell to have came on the scene much earlier).
Once this goes crazy, a million users would seem like chump change. That kind of traffic would not only bring pressure by scrutiny as well and that can be a game changer and even hit products can go flop. Now the platform has time and thankfully it's using it well (maybe not well enough but still....)

Basically we are here on steemit to share knowledge
What we know about anything we share that information with others
And it should be always like this
We should help each other always that the real humanity

Just patiently waiting for SMT to be released and give reason to all social media users why being in a decentralised platform like Steemit is the best. The steemit community will definitely scale through, and by the time. Everyone starts spreading Steemit to all social media, steemit will take over

There is no need for advertising it should be allowed to grow organically at this point! The community brings in new users and we already have quite a few people getting in for the wrong reasons and the churn and drop off rate is quite hard high! Advertising would only drive that even higher
Also if more users were to use steemit the amount of shit posts would make it harder to find good posts using the current UX

When I first heard about steemits 1 mln members I thought, this is a lot. Sure this is a new platform, but after all this is a great score, at least it is inmy eyes. We still have to consider giants souch like Facebook and Instagram. There is a lot work ahed of us.

You are right that they should first fox a few things before they are able to upscale. If tomorrow 1,000,000 new users would subscribe then the waiting list would most likely be close 6-12 months.
About the number of 1 million users, the number of active ones is more like 100k-200k. Having such high leave rates might also need to have a look at by Steemit Inc.
Otherwise Steemit will never gain millions or even tens of millions of active users.
Last but not least, Steemit has been advertised. I don't know for how much, but I think for at least tens of thousands USD. This advertisement was done by @jerrybanfield.

That's true, steemit hasn't been really advertised yet. Although there is a growing steemit community here on venezuela, the general public don't know about its existence.

I do agree and expansion is necessary for continuous success.
You make a lot of great points, I think services like the steem blockchain is going to be the future, this is a social network that also comes with the upside of paying you (in cryptocurrency nonetheless) for the quality of the content you put up.
I think too there is a lot of work to be done by us (the community) and the people behind making all of these things to work, but it does have a lot of potential and can explode given the appropriate ad work and changes to the interface.
All in all this is a great site and I hope it will become one of the most populars soon. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the matter, I really enjoyed reading it.
