Steemit Tips: Don't Let Bad Timing Frustrate YousteemCreated with Sketch.

Here is the thing, we are getting busy on this site. Very. And for now there are not that many ways to filter content. So that means, there is a good chance, your work is only going to be visible for so long. You have a flashy title and a photo and that is it. If no one with significant voting power even sees it, there is no chance it will get seen. Nothing to do with quality or if the piece was of a topic that people care about but simply because it didn't get seen by many people.

We will need to work on filtration but for now you have to work with it. This means you can work your ass of on a piece and have it get no appreciate. At this point it is easy to get frustrated, say nuts to this site and move on somewhere else. But try not to take it personally. You can try another site, but trust me, you will not see the kind of rewards there that you do here. Advertising does not pay well, at all, unless you are bringing in serious numbers and that is unlikely for a new account. And if you are going to put the work in, this is the site to do it.

Yes it will take work. What you wanted free money for nothing :p. You will need to learn to post quality and do so often. Welcome to the world of writing. Whoever told you freelance is easy is not a freelancer. It comes with it perks, like right now I am fairly comfortable as I type this, but you have to work hard to compete. And you need to work through periods of lows where you feel like you are getting nowhere. It is part of the field. Unless you are really getting nowhere, then maybe you should switch it up.

Keep writing, keep an eye to see what users like and don't like and write what you like so you don't drive yourself crazy during the bad times.

Just have to keep writing or posting photos or whatever you niche is till it starts catching people's attention. Once you get that following (I think) then more and more of your work will be noticed each time that you post. Or at least that is what I think and hope for!!

Well the more followers you have the more your post will show up in home feed so it should raise your odds :)

Yes.. i am working to make a good blog and I get $1... and I am only writing this comment I will get $5...

Only 10% frustration
90% hapiness

One upvote on your way to $5!

I'll make that two votes

Me too :p

This will be a hot post!

Yeah, I've had many fluctuations - from a few cents to over $60 (next goal – break $100 for a post!). I try to write great content for every post, and just because a post doesn't get a ton of rewards doesn't mean it's bad, it just means maybe it didn't hit some people the right way, or maybe it just got lost. So don't get discouraged, just keep writing and posting good content!

Exactly, there are more factors than quality.

Good advice -- I was feeling this very thing this morning, haha. Keeping myself committed to the long game though! Keep on steemin' friends :)

I was just going to tell you to check out this post, @jenlavallee!

haha. Great minds do think alike, wouldn't you say?

:). Writing comes with frustrations no matter what forms it takes, know you are not alone when you feel it.

It's not so much the writing (I got that down, lol!). I think it's the time you put in to write something great...for 5 views. Lol!

It is frustrating, but I find it fun to see what people actually see or what catches their eyes. I also notice that posts with pictures get a lot more visitors than walls of text. I am not discouraged. Worst case scenario, next week, if it is still relevant I can always rehash things that I think are awesome that no one happened to see... But I will not do this too often as I am sure my followers will be annoyed with the same posts over and over. I will just push through, find gold mine blogs like this and comment with quality and hope my score increases.

Thanks guys for the amazing opportunity with Steemit!

Yep it is all about that balance

Totally agree !! thanks for sharing, I find round this time I get more votes than like 10 hours earlier. What do you thin is the best time most steemers are online ? Great post :)

I honestly have no idea, I find some days are better than other. It would be good information to have but I just post :p.

I agree, don't let bad times in a way of your blogging. Plan, blog, have fun, rest is bonus. Having a good strategy and balancing time is useful.

Still trying to guage what time of day is best to be posting since people are all over the world, that part is tricky

I've been trying to figure that out, too.

I find it is so random.

I don't think I've posted enough to say for sure, but when I posted just before bed at midnight no one saw my post... don't feel like trying that again ;)

Yeah I had some late ones that went unnoticed, I just have kept it for the morning :p.

Thanks for the great post and advice. I'm a newbie here and it's encouraging to know that this journey will be worthwhile.

Thank you for this helpful encouraging post for us newbies. This has been a wonderful experience for me on Steemit but the randomness of upvotes on posts can be a little frustrating at times.

Totally, but this a problem with any system, only so much content can get seen.

Yes that is true. I am use to being able to SEO more like on my eBay and Etsy sites. I think because Steemit is so new and there is not much of a brand recognition yet that SEO is not as helpful yet. But I am thankful to be here now getting established before it really takes off.

It might soon. And you steemit posts get indexed by Google, so maybe SEO can help with people outside of the site.

Agreed. I will add it in my daily process.
